Just let me search for what I want, anywhere on the site please!
OK, so I want to look at books that might have "Darfield" in the title.
So I go to the home page and type "darfield" where it actually specifically says "search all of Trademe".
What results do I get? I get pushed into the "Properties" listings and have to tell the system with an extra click "no, I did REALLY mean "ALL" of trademe.
So I finally get the results I want, and end up at a page where I want to save as a favourite. I do so. If I now go to that favourite and click "darfield" to see results, the system does a bit of redirecting - from "undefined", to "darfield" and finally ends up with "null" in the search field, and no listings.
Gaaaaaaa.

Try this in the main search box "darfield" NOT Property.
By default, TM snaps to property when you try and search for a placename, unless you are already in a specific category, which is often near impossible as you may want to search across many categories at the same time.

It is such an annoying feature

It's the sort of thing where someone decided to make the system "smarter" but it's actually a bit condescending, at it assumes the user wants something they quite likely don't. Commonly referred to as "Website enshittification".

Kia ora 928gold, I've passed your feedback on to the team, you can give them feedback directly via "Tell us what you think" towards the bottom of Trade Me pages. Thanks for the tip GaryNZStocked!

How did you manage to get the search all of Trade Me link 928gold?
When I have this problem and get sent to Property there is no way out. There is no Search all of Trade Me link from there.
Same issue in Motors if you get sent there. For example if you search for an author like "Holden" that happens to have a name that is also a vehicle model.

Yeah, you have to be in a location where "Search all of Trade Me" shows up in the top search box and you have to use that search box.
If that's not showing in the box, you're already in the search jail with no chance of escape.

the search function has been crap for years. Try this, go to google (or any other search engine) and type in your query followed by the words; trademe nz. This can sometimes work but more often than not it can give better results than the search function does
