The New Send Shipping Option - does it work for My Products?

Hi all. I have read the help pages but hopefully someone has tested this.  Is this function able to be used if using My Products, ie if I select "I don't know the shipping costs yet"?  

This would solve a lot of issues for me as I often sell multiple items to people and it is impossible to set up combined shipping options as there is simply no way to know AND I get a lot of people select non rural when rural, or South Island instead of North Island.  I really don't enjoy the shipping templates in My Products and was never able to make the combined shipping function work.
