Categories - Unable to Change after starting Listing
Hi there.
Have been away from Trademe for a few months. I recently tried listing an item and wasnt 100% sure of the correct category so went ahead and listed it thinking id go back and refine the Category afterwards.
After starting the Listing - I find after selecting Edit i am unable to change the Category.
How Dumb is that.
This Trademe Site seems to be continuously going downhill.
Nice Upgrade Trademe. Gone from being User Friendly to a total Shambles.

Hello ren1974
Certain categories can't be changed afterwards. (Because they have a different fee structure)
But yes, also items created in the new system have problems.
If that is the case about all you can do until Trade Me get around to fixing it is make sure you get it correct on the relist.
You can shorten up the ending time to make that happen sooner.

Hello caro2022 Differing fees only apply to in-trade sellers now that success fees are gone for casual sellers.
For casual sellers, as explained previously, this is a known issue. It's confirmed in the help file.
Again. Nothing you can do except get it correct on the relist.

Hi Callum
Thanks for your reply. I thibk ive communicated with you previously
Not being able to edit the category after initial listing is just straight out lousy.
Why Traders are unable to edit their listings totally beats me.....
Trademe obviously are not interested in providing a seamless quality listing experience.
It seams the more improvements they roll out the worse things get...
Its Shambolic.
So - i have to wait 7 days to make a change. The Site is Doomed.

ren1974. You don't have to wait 7 days. I'm still on the old system so can't test for sure, but can't you edit the the end time down to 2 days?
You could also get Trade Me to withdraw your auction for you (So you don't have to pay the $3 withdraw fee) But that means waiting for Trade Me to get back to you, which is unlikely to be faster than 2 days...........

Hi Callum.
Thanks for high lighting what potential options i could take.
In all honesty I shouldn't have to Edit the Auction Timeline down to 2 days and also should not have to apply to Trademe to withdraw the listing to make a simple adjustment. It's just straight out Lousy and Useless implementation of an Upgrade that hasn't been tested appropriately.
This Site is on a Downward Spiral and sadly has been for quite sometime now.
I'm quietly hoping for the impossible.

You could always just list it now in the correct category, and edit your current auction to a high price so no one bids on it, or leave it

Hi AJ.
Thanks for the Heads up.
Maybe Trademe could actually just fix the Problem. (I wouldn't Hold my Breath)
It's just a Category Change - Pretty Simple.

Trade Me are no longer interested in fixing their myriad number of problems. Although they are quite happy to make new ones for users. The fact that you can't edit a category within the same fee/pricing structure is laughable & archaic, especially when there are no fees for casual sellers.
