LISTING SEARCHES ARE DUD
I have tried a search for Oamaru in the Bottles category within the Antiques & Collectables section. It returns with null / undefined as it's answer. Why is the search not showing me the matching listings that ARE there? How are sellers expected to have a good chance of selling items, if they haven't a fair chance of being found in the first place?

Kia Ora marriott76,
I've run the same search on the New Look Desktop site and I have a return of 16 Listings.
The usual troubleshooting applies: check you're running the latest version of your device & run a cookies / cache clear incase a redundant one has got stuck there. - I'm not sure how you access the site, Desktop or one of the Apps, the Apps were both updated 22 June 2026, a little over a day ago.

Hi there, my search wasn't for bottles being sold out of Oamaru. My search was for bottles with Oamaru in the title of the listing.

You're correct. Trade Me has always struggled on search when you put a place name in search. It will assume you want to buy a bottle IN Oamaru. Or even worse will kick you out to property assuming you want to buy a house there.
When I follow your instructions I get the exact same error. No results are returned, and my search word is changed to undefined.
There is a way around it.
1. Type Oamaru bottle in the main search bar
2. It will delete the Oamaru and give you results of bottle listed in Oamaru
3. Click the link that says "Search all of Trade Me for Oamaru bottle instead"
4. Click the Antiques and Collectables category
5. You will finally get to your results.
6. SAVE IT! so you don't have to go through the pain again.

I can confirm this is an error.Trade Me always does weird stuff if you post a place name in search.
I have posted detailed instructions how to fix it marriott76 but it's in pending mode.
Check back in an hour or 2 and hopefully it's cleared.

The reality is that you shouldn't have to go through such a long-winded process. The search engines aren't up to scratch I'm afraid.
