Full-screen video ads keep reappearing

Certainly haven't seen anything like that myself hunterd2. Which page are you on when you see the ad? What is the ad for? Maybe grab a screenshot if you see it again?

I didn't really understand what you meant about seeing it again every 10 seconds when you "close out of the App" If you have closed the App you shouldn't be seeing anything at all. That would point to an issue with your phone or malware rather than Trade Me? Surely? 

Anyway, glad the delete and reinstall worked. Maybe you had a significantly old version of the App previously that was causing issues.

Thanks for the reply. Apologies for the confusion - the ad would pop back up again 10 seconds after I closed the *ad*, every time. (I.e. I open TradeMe, scroll a bit, this ad pops up, I hit "x", it goes away, then no matter what I do it pops up again 10 seconds later if I still have the app open.) No impact on the phone when the TradeMe app wasn't open.

It was an add for a travel agency or something, advertising Vanuatu. I haven't seen the ad reappear, so I've been unable to replicate the issue. I got the impression that TradeMe was trying out a new feature where some ads became full-screen pop-up videos, and there was a bug with closing them. I was hoping to find a "report bug" section on the website, but Community post was the closest I could find.

I'll add a reply if this issue reoccurs. Cheers!

Deleted the app, downloaded again, same thing!
Video just starts playing randomly.

While I get static ads, I haven't seen any videos or ads that keep reappearing yet. Is there anything you do that seems to trigger them? So are you browsing, on the home page, searching, making a listing etc.....

Same. Makes me not want to use trade me app anymore. You can’t even look at anything.

Have to push the exit button twice. What a giant f-up by their tech team.

This is also happening to me but only just started , using IOS, ad keeps popping up every 10-15 seconds. Even deleted & reinstalled app. Still doing the same. How annoying.

I've had a good look around and still not getting them so far. But it does sound like it might be a new advertising feature. Bit concerning if it's happening all the time though. 

Can those who are affected confirm what version they are on please? I'm on Version 268.0 (31825)

Hi there - Just updated iOS TradeMe App to version 269.0 (32167) and same ‘tropical island’ video Ad (which contains no wording or branding anywhere) appears constantly again and again even on exiting the video.
Really terrible experience & this App ‘Bug’ needs to be squashed ASAP. Happy to send screenshots.

I have same issue on iOS 18.7.8 - completely unusable now. Only noticed it today. Seemed fine 2 days earlier. And have upgraded to latest app version to see if fixes it. No change!

Me again. Now upgraded to app ver 269.0 and adds gone so far. Hmmmm.

Happening to me as well. I’ve deleted and re downloaded the app (version 269) still happening. Makes the app virtually unusable

Ask your ChatGPT to fix it it's really not that hard.

Getting 2 of them overlayed now. The faster you swipe the ad away the more persistent it seems to get. Well done guys.

Hopefully someone from Trade Me will be along on Monday to see this post. If you haven't already done so, you might like to  report this through to Trade Me directly. You can find the contact us link at the bottom of the page. Then hit "leave a message for the team" at the blue bubble / 'bot prompt. I haven't had the issue myself yet, but have referred them to this post. 

You can also report the issue directly on the app itself. Go to the about Trade Me for iOS link and use the App feedback link given there.
