Buy now changes
I enter a ‘Start Price’ and use the same value as the ‘Buy Now’ price.
Say I enter $14 as the start price and $14 as the buy now.
When I click on ‘Activate product’ it comes up stating the Buy Now is less than the start price and, as such, it won’t enter the item.
When I go to check the start and buy now prices, I find the buy now has automatically changed to $13.99 ot to $14.01.
I have to then correct the buy now to the $14.
This happens to about every tenth item I enter.

Is this related to PING Payments perhaps and the paying 0.01 cents into those who use PING accounts?
We have had occasions were we are getting pop ups telling us the amount of our Fixed Price Offers 'must' be less than the 'Buy Now" price which raises questions as to who is actually in charge of our information.
Is it us as Consumers, or is it Trade Me?
There needs to be clarification as to what exactly is Trade Me, and can they legally have such a control over it's users like this.
Maybe some budding Legal students may like to take this on board along with other matters of questions asked in here.

Nothing to do with the $0.01 cents PING.
Howold - it's not a conspiracy. You may be getting confused with the message that your starting bid must be less than your buy now. There is no reason/policy from trademe that the FPO cant be less than the buy now. If you are getting these messages, next time take a screen shot and send it to trademe because it must be a bug.

It just happened again but I corrected it before I could take a screenshot.
Will next time.

Is there some reason you are making it an auction rather than a buynow pu4?
If it's $14 buynow, just ignore auction and put $14 as a buynow.
That will solve your issue.

I had originally had it in auction but didn't sell so I dropped the price and added 'Buy Now'.
I guess in future I should just have 'Buy Now'.

My basic question was "How come it automatically changes. Is there a bug or something in the TradeMe program that causes it to happen.

AJ, if you are old enough you will know and recall a Cash Register has to open, hence we had 1, 2 and 5 cents.
PING will be no different as it's a form of Cash Register.
It likely is because the software used by those doing updates is not compatible to current legislative requirements in NZ.
Have a read also of the decision relating to Revolut in Italy + Lithuania that came out recently, there's a requirement to have a Licence to operate in other countries.
Hope that helps with understanding possible scenarios.
Please also nip it in the bud about conspiracies as it's unsolicited.
