NEW CHANGES: Stopping Bank Transfers & Only Allowing PING or AFTERPAY or CASH
I just want to clarify something as there seems to be a contradiction. The changes mean no more success fees (great). But when you sell, you can only use Ping, Afterpay & Cash. The reason is stated to protect Users as 90% of scams use Bank Transfers. And, Buyers Protection is raising from $2500 to $5000. But Buyers Protection states whats covered and whats not covered (see link below). It states that Fraud is not covered by Buyers Protection. So what happens if someone uses a stolen credit card, the money goes to PING, the seller sends the item, and the seller is paid. Then later the charge is reversed when the card is reported stolen. ARE TM GOING TO ABSORB THE FRAUDULANT COST? Then what if the money goes to PING, the seller sends the item & the stolen credit card charge is reversed before the seller gets paid. DOES THAT MEAN BP DOES NOT COVER THE SELLER & THE FRADULANT BUYER GETS THE ITEM? It appears in that scenario PING is ineffective? If the fraudulant buyer uses Afterpay buy lots of items and defaults on payment, is the item held until 8 weeks later until the item is paid off or sent straight away? WHAT HAPPENS IF AFTERPAY IS USED, THE ITEM IS SENT, AND THE BUYER DEFAULTS ON AFTERPAY? Thats just two scenarios. I heard that Layby went bust because so many people defaulted? I dont know how scammers do frauds but thats just two instances I could think of. As an honest Seller (and buyer) I dont release an item until money is in the bank. Its simple. It 'appears' both PING & AFTERPAY are still vunerable to scammers. Can you please answer these questions? I dont have experience using PING or AFTERPAY as a seller as im a casual seller. But if I am forced to use it as a seller, I would like to know what happens in these scenarios please? Am I really protected by using PING & BP? Id never use Afterpay as a seller as Id have to send the item, wait 8wks for payment & no recourse if they default.

retrocentric. Do you manually request a transfer or is it automated? If manual I'd suggest you try changing to automatic.
You can find the button from your Ping account page. It doesn't matter if there is no money in your account to transfer on some days. It will automate the process for you and you can then be sure it gets actioned each day if there is money available.

Callum - I have used both manual and automatic, it does not make an iota of difference to how long it takes to get the money from Ping to our bank accounts.

Callum will always back trademe, he always echo's what trademe will tell you. ping is owned and operated by trademe so they set the rules and we have to do what they say, there are thousands of members who cant get a debit card or credit card needed activate a ping account so they cant use tm now.

Ping and Callum are the epitome of Trade Me control.
I've made two little sales today and I can't access my own money.
That's control!!

I had 5 or 6 sales today. Last one 12:53pm
Ping transfer was made from Trade Me to my bank account at 2:48pm. Funds landed in my BNZ account at 4:18pm.
So less than 2 hours after the request was made.
Screenshots attached.
I have no idea why it doesn't work like that for anyone else. For those who say it takes "days" will you be willing to back that up with some proof?

Callum - it works like that for me too. I had mine turn up at 4.17pm today - so i must have slight priority over you (lol)

Yeah cos it's so cool to wait a whole day rather than an hour or two.
You're trying hard to sell it, but either way you look at it Ping is a rubbish platform for a casual seller.
I'd rather pay a success fee any day!

I get a same day Ping payment transfer on both my in-trade and casual Trade Me accounts using different bank accounts. Are any of you "takes a few days" people are willing to prove it?
Yes, I had shares in Trade Me. Did very well out of them too. There is talk of it becoming a public company again. Not sure if I will invest again if they do re-list. I'd have to crunch the financials, but would seriously consider it.

Not always true on both accounts jpicard, if you look at my past posts you will see I dont always agree with Callum and I dont always support trademe. I didn't want to use PING for a few reasons but since being forced realised its not as bad as what I had first thought. It was the same with using myproducts, but sometimes experience speaks for itself and i wonder why I didnt start using it years before I did. It has shelted me from the "new upgraded site" debarcle. Superusers are only community related so I dont think they also relate to the trademe market place. And clearly you didnt get the joke i was making with Callum - is if trademe gives me priority over him because I got mine 1 minute before him.

we don't have to prove anything to you Callum as we have no reason to lie! if we were getting a same day transfer to our bank we would be happy and wouldn't be here on this forum complaining. you and AJ are showing off and is not helping us with our concerns. I personally like Ping although it doesn't help all the existing members who cant get a debit or credit card. I'm guessing they can only buy or sell with the cash option now.

That you get your funds quickly is a moot point Callum.
It's what happens for me that is important.
Out of my 3 sales yesterday, I've been paid for one thus far.
The time between the sale / Ping payment and transfer to my bank- referenced as a Trade Me direct debit - nearly 24 hours, in fact it was 14 minutes shy of 24 hours.
If this were a bank transfer, the time would have been maximum 2 hours. THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
Yes I could take screenshots, but it's not my job to 'prove' to you. My word that this is happening is adequate.
