Bank Transfers
I am not happy that bank transfers are going. It has been so easy to use and NO FEES. We have never had a problem - though we do not do a lot of trading. Should we all start using other trading sites instead?

Swift as a transfer mechanism for Bank Transfers works well if conducting International trade between banks.
The Match, Partial Match or other has always existed, speaking as a person who has worked in banks and retail where Cash Register Systems are used.
We had to ensure Credit cards belong to who is using them with signatures on a "Carbon Copy" ( yes that's linked in with the Carbon Free spin) with that of the Credit card.
An automated machine system will never replace effective Human Invention.
Due Diligence reading an advertisement, to establish if a person is genuine, making contact through messaging systems and checking background information all helps.
The problems we are all facing go back to those who are Anti Paper based Systems and Anti Competitive as in Monopolies.
Incidentally Gates empire, including his relations, have a long history of Anti Competitive practices hence all the litigation associated with them, dating back to the late 1800's.
He pushed Online learning in schools and his current girlfriend worked for the National Cash Register.
Some at the NCR pushed Cashless Systems and to go Digital in the 1970's and 1980's.
They were found to be Conspiracy theories.
A little like telling us Ping is "safer" it's snake oil salesmen techniques.

Are there any real "safe" payment method? Even cash can be counterfeit, credit cards stolen, bank account payments "faked" or taken over. At least ping is guaranteed so yes safer from the perspective if its a scam, you will get it back. You wont get that from other forms of payment. Yes you might get a deposit into a bank acount back, or a credit card payment reversed, but its not guaranteed

Unfortunately Buyer Protection isn't guaranteed either - the policy clearly states as below...

with further reference to we 'may' and we 'might'.
There are many incidences where Members have been declined in favour for the disputes tribunal.

I was referring to the payment method, not a guarantee of the actual product. But yes its good to clarify the difference

Yes exactly, if you follow the thread it was about how secure/safe payments are.

You must have missed Posts where Ping has been charged multiple times in error and there are more... - It isn't a guaranteed system with the technical glitches which have and do occur within tech systems from time to time. - Well known. - I do follow threads and I read them in context.

Shouldn't the issue be choice? Buyers and sellers choosing the method they feel most comfortable with. If the buying trend goes the way of Ping, sellers then choose to adopt it or not. Let it evolve naturally, rather than forcing it on people. If its such an all singing, all dancing fantastic option, then won't sellers turn to it voluntarily? And if they don't, maybe it's not so fantastic after all....

Cataholik, I agree, and I think looking through the week's various posts, most people (me included) seem more disgruntled with the removal of bank transfers as an option than they are happy with the removal of success fees for casual sellers.
If the posts are anything to go by, they removal of bank transfers as an option is the wrong move, and I hope trade me see it that way as well and re-install.........not holding my breath though.

Maybe they will learn from what's been happening with Courier Companies - including Aramex who have been discussed and used within Trade Me process Systems.
The recent Commerce Commission Investigation and court proceedings resulted in a reprimand and fine.
None of us know what's been going on behind the scenes that's resulted in the situation we find ourselves with PING.
As an aside The Reserve Bank has some useful information in regards to Money, Cash and Banking systems, including Digital currency trials.
