Shipping options - My Products
AnsweredI have just looked at using my products as an option for listing products and managing my auctions
Considering changing from a listing tool that I pay for - Its become unreliable
Gone to set up my shipping options - I can honestly say what a load of rubbish totally non flexible and stupid
How the heck did Trade me come up with such a fiction stupid policy/Frame work
How does everyone get around the non flexibility
If only the clowns who set these parameters used Trade Me

What part of the inflexibility are you trying to get around Alison?
If it's the need to use a shipping template, as opposed to specifying a rate and your own details, then the new templates are only compulsory for Buy Now only listings.
If it's the need to specify a specific courier, even though the courier isn't displayed to buyers, then simply choose Other.
If you need specific flexible options like 1-4 items $6, 4-10 items $8 etc or if you want to offer options of Post and Courier on the same listing, then don't use the templates and just use Specify shipping, which you can bulk edit via export/edit/import-update and use whatever shipping descriptive text you want to.
Or, is there something else you wanted to do but can't?

That's great support you've offered Gary in how to maneuver through the system - I vote you a 'User Friendly' document writer for the Help files - You speak the language we can comprehend, interpreting in easy format. Thank you 😊👍

Hi Gary Thanks - I seem to be struggling with the options available - I cant click the Box that tells customers its going to arrive in 2-4 days with NZ Post or 4-6 For rural customers NZ Post Also I may use a different courier Depending on Destination - I always inform customers whats happening and never had issues - If I state its travelling with NZ Post and I use Amerex I would think that far more confusing

Probably best to use the Other option, similar to screenshot below. Then you can use whatever courier you choose at the time. This is what I do, although I don't have a rural option myself. Not exactly what you wanted, but not far off.

The processing time you specify is added on to the shipping times in the options, so what is presented to the customer is like below for the template above.

Like you, I choose the courier based on a whole list of other variables eg time of day ordered, size of parcel, how many others going at the same time, destination address, what couriers are available for booking at the time, what day of the week is it, has the courier picked up already, etc etc. All aimed at getting the goods to the customer safely and quickly.
