How did the buyer get my phone number?
Previously all communication with the buyer has been by email but I just sold an item and the buyer has texted me. How did they get my phone number?

Could be any number of methods. Do you have it in your payment instructions that get sent to your buyers or even your full name. Have you listed a classified at all with your phone number in it, has the buyer bought from you before or have you bought from them so knows your details from previous to look up on social media etc. Lots of ways to find details unless you are secretive. You could ask the buyer too if you are concerned.

Hello zambez1. Check your payment instructions. It may be there.

Thanks guys. No it's not in my payment instructions nor have I traded with this buyer before. And we are pretty careful with who we give our contact details to ever since we were burgled (way back in pre-Trade Me days). So I asked the buyer and he confirmed that it was from him but said that he sent it to my email address (which was on his success email from Trade Me). Well it definitely turned up in my text messages, and nothing came into my email. It's never happened before like this. So I'm wondering, because Trade Me has my phone number, whether something is being scrambled at Trade Me?

Silly question maybe, but this definitely came through as a text, not an email notification on your phone? Or a push notification from the Trade Me App?
What is the reply phone number on the text message? That will help you figure out where it came from.......

Do you print your own Courier labels or just write Tracking number on?,
as they can have phone number on them when printed out, especially NZ Post which I black out,
But if you just write your Tracking number on Parcel, and the courier sticks Courier label on, it can have your phone number on it, and you not realizing, as it will be on the system when booked through Trade Me,
It is best to print your own labels out and then you can blackout any personal information, as if there is an issue Couriers have all the info from when you make the booking on line at their finger tips including your Trade E-Mail address, as I have found when they E-Mailed me as one of my parcels was badly damaged a couple of years ago,
