Ping payment with shipping costs
Many sellers do not specify shipping costs in their auctions, leaving the costs 'to be arranged' after the sale. In this case however, the payment amount using PING is fixed to the winning bid / buy now amount and does not allow me to add the shipping costs on top. This means, the buyer is not able to use PING along with its protection features if shipping is to be arranged after the sale and has to resolve to other, more flexible but less secure payment options.
Is this correct or am I missing something? Would it be possible to allow users to adjust the payment amount using PING to cater for shipping?

Kia Ora Alexandra, you are correct there is no ability to factor shipping in after winning an auction so Yes Ping does not cater for this!
2 Options:
- Ask the Seller to input shipping for your location if you are purchasing via Buy Now.
- Ask the Seller if you can Buy Now via Ping & Pay shipping by internet banking.
Neither options are ideal as questions are unavoidable here and really Sellers need to apply a shipping cost correctly to their listings, however we then see overall item costs rise - perhaps Ping cannot be used in future if the shipping cost is not applied or applied as Free shipping - meantime you will need to ask in the interim - Cheers.

A similar situation Alexandra. I get a few buyers choose the $0.00 combined shipping option when they are buying only the one item, and then they pay by Ping. I give them the option to buy something else and pay shipping on at least one item and $0.00 combine on all others, or just pay the shipping by internet banking, or offer to put up a listing for shipping only, or ask them to buy again and choose shipping correctly, and then I refund the first one that they didn't pay shipping on. I find most people either buy again and choose shipping correctly, or pay the shipping by internet banking.
It would make things simpler if Ping was not able to be used if shipping is not specified, unless the seller offers pickups. I often pay by Ping and then pickup.

I am with you on this comment of yours - It would make things simpler if Ping was not able to be used if shipping is not specified, unless the seller offers pickups. I often pay by Ping and then pickup.
I am over using ping where there is no shipping, It takes sellers 3 days or more to get back with shipping costs when Items should have been shipped within 3 days, so expect a quick response in a day or two at least?,
One Item I used ping, they did not get back to me with actual shipping until day 8, so was no way gong to get item in time for when I intended to use it,

There's a related, annoying situation with Ping and buying multiple items - as a buyer, you can't change your shipping option when paying with Ping. so if the seller offers combined shipping at a reduced rate, you can't pay with Ping, because you obviously don't know whether you'll win 1 or more auctions until after they're over, so you don't know whether to pick the full rate or the discounted rate for each item. Ping's only usable for single-item purchases, which is very frustrating.
Allowing the seller to change the amount charged via Ping post-sale would fix this. Then they could combine the prices of multiple trades and shipping costs etc. and charge the funds at once.

flossy63 Community SuperuserYou just use ping and pay shipping on the auctions, once seller has confirmed the combined cost they just refund the overpaid back to you, it is easy for the seller to do that,This is one from a few days ago I received from seller, Shipping that was not required, so they refunded,0

Kia Ora Sean,
Similar thoughts are in Post Idea - make buyers of multiple items select shipping after purchase - Cheers.
