Trade me wont let me start a listing

Hi there, i have just logged into my account after a few years of not using it. I tried to list an item and trade wont let me start the auction. I have put credit into my account but it said my account might not be enabled. Im a bit confused.

Hello Kate, yes I believe that can happen after a few years of inactivity. Does the message not give you further details of how to get your account re-activated?

TradeMe Terms & Conditions, clause 2.3 Your account balance states...

If you haven't logged into your account for more than 18 months, your account will be suspended and any unused balance will be forfeited to us. You'll need to get in touch to get your account back up and running.

A plausible reason for this action would be in keeping the database clean, tidy & up to date whilst preventing avenues for scammers & hackers to enter the system through dormant accounts which expose vulnerabilities in the system.

To contact a staff member directly for assistance if you select 'Contact us' at the very bottom of any TradeMe page the Live Chat Bubble will Pop up in blue at the bottom Right of your Landing page screen, enter in the Chat window Talk to person below the Bot text suggestions, next to the paperclip icon, to be transferred through to the staff line where you can be verified to re-open your account.

The Live Chat manned hours weekdays are 8:00am - 5:30pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pm

Afterhours you can leave a detailed message through the same path and a staff member will email you back during manned business hours with what information TradeMe require for verification to re-open your account. - Cheers.
