Incorrect Location Advice on Auctions
AnsweredExtremely frustrating when buying larger items that require "Pick Up Only". Sellers location advice is often vague or incorrect... Eg. displayed as North Shore which encompasses a huge area with many suburbs / or recently a Manukau seller was located 20 mins away for pickup in Clevedon. Trademe surely when confirming traders "Address Verified" can either insist on... Town / City & Suburb / or rural area name... Eg Taupri / Ohaupo / Gordonton are not in Hamilton! / neither are Coatesville / Dairy Flat on the north Shore!!

Sellers can put in a suburb on their listing to help, but really why dont you ask a location if you're wanting to pick up?

Yes, i think there is some onus on the sellers here to add their suburb in the description. Surely that's just common sense. For pick-up only items especially.
The whole issue of where exactly boundary lines run between Trade Me, councils, google, courier maps, is a fraught and complicated problem.

I agree that if you are to pickup an item, it it concerns you the exact suberb, just ask seller, its simple. However its also good for seller to put approx pickup location in text. The issue with that the suberb in peoples profiles is that suburbs change. Ie manukau used to be the only option originally to select in profile for all areas in the old mankau city (pre super city) which was vast (orere point right through to Puketutu island) which is a 60km 1.5 hour drive. Now there are many other suberbs available to select within that old Manukau city area. However many members have maybe not yet updated by choise or not even aware you can update to a more specific suburb
