Account has been hacked
How does this work?
Received an email from Trade Me that I changed my email address. Placed a hold on my account and changed the password.
I have now received 3 emails stating the sellers complaining of no contact. I email all of them and explain the situation.
I tried to cancel my account but have to wait 2 business days.
What are they hackers trying to do? Theres no payment method, they just order and never get back to the seller because I get the emails.
I checked my settings and the prefered email is still my email adress.
This is driving me insane.....defs somebody young.
Ordered inline skates, a skate board and a faux bag. 🤦♀️

Callum Community SuperuserHi Tinus. There could be a few possibilities here that the hackers are trying to do.
1. Someone you know "having a laugh" This might also explain how they accessed your account if they got hold of your phone or computer sometime when you were logged in
2. Someone purchasing items and hoping to get some items sent without being paid for. They could use fake screenshots of bank payments here.
3. Someone wanting you account to run their own selling or phishing scams. Often these ones are international scammers.
Do make sure your other passwords are secure. If were using the same password on Trade Me that you are also using on other websites, change them straight away.

S Community SuperuserKia Ora Tinus,Sorry to read this has happened to you,You can contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for instant assistance in having your account securely locked down or closed due to the circumstances, - If you select the Contact us Link at the very bottom of any TradeMe page the Chat Tab will Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your landing page screen. - Enter in the Chat bot which comes up once opened - person - and you will be taken to entering your details before arriving at the window to Chat with a Real Person/Staff. - Enter the Listing numbers & attach screenshots of the emails you've received from these Sellers enabling staff to pull them up readily. You will have unique information staff will want to help investigate this.The Live Chat manned hours weekdays are 8:00am - 5:30pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pm- Cheers.0
