MHH report requested
AnsweredRecently listed a vehicle for sale. An interested buyer asked all the right questions and got to the stage of asking for a time to view. Then he asked for an MHH report giving me the website to buy it from, turns out to be a scam so please beware.

It's a good idea to give Trade Me a heads up about that trader directly Shane, so they can shut the account down.

Kia Ora Helen,
If you have an email you can forward this directly through to their Trust & Safety Team using the abuse@trademe.co.nz email address.
You can contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for direct assistance, If you select the Contact us Link at the very bottom of any TradeMe page the Chat Tab will Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your landing page screen. - Enter in the Chat bot which comes up once opened - Talk to person - and you are taken to entering a few details before arriving at the window to Chat with a Real Person/Staff. - Have copies/screenshots of any questions to attach & enter your Listing number in the Chat window itself.
The Live Chat manned hours weekdays are 8:00am - 5:30pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pmWell Done spotting the scam - Cheers.1 -
Hi, I had the same issue with my listing as well. This buyer (fake) @khateemaely asked all the right questions and then said, "Sounds good. Before leaving my place I'll let you know, Sorry about that, but I've some queries regarding your vehicle history. So, can you share me the M H rep"
Once again, he sent me another email with a link attached to it, asking for an ASAP reply.

Kia Ora All,
WoW! it's full on out there - well done for catching the play and not falling for it.
Just a reminder to follow all the safety precautions through this Post & valuable Links - Run your device(s) through a malware/virus scan if you have clicked into any Links & Once your email has been forwarded to TradeMe filter it through to your spam/junk folder enabling your service provider to block it from their level also.
Be alert for phishing scams which may arrive through your emails & filter them through to your spam/junk folders accordingly. - I've had the NZ Transport Agency Rego Alert phishing email come through recently. - Keep Vigilant & Safe! - Cheers.

Luckily most scammers (so far) generally aren't that sophisticated. They just send out bulk attempts in the hope they will catch 1 in a 100. In a small country like ours when something comes up like an MHH report it causes most people to have a "hmmmmm" moment. It's not a known company here, so causes most people to pause.
What's going to be interesting in the near future is incoming next gen AI scams that will potentially be much more personalized and realistic.

they are still active folks - I was contacted by JAMES DEVIES (almost certainly fake name) he asked all the right questions, then wanted to view and asked me to provide 'MHH Paperwork' - google it, this is a scam. The paperwork doesn't exist. The scammer will send a link to the supposed documents resulting in malware/worse infecting your computer. I didn't take the bait, blocked him and advised TM. If you are selling and someone asks for MHH or VAC reports, don't respond. Happy selling folks :)

Hi team had the same thing from
Eric Drew asked all the right questions then asked for a HHM reportReplyReply allForward0 -
S Community SuperuserKia Ora John,Thanks for the heads up on that name coming through also,It's always good to know the name of the person to keep an eye out for but not the full contact email. - It's a Good idea to use the cog wheel across from your name to remove the Email Address from your comment - we don't want any curious Members getting into strife by making contact. - Cheers.1
