Ping

Ping lets you pay or get paid instantly – using credit or debit cards, NZ bank account, or Ping balancePing is only available for general Marketplace listings.

Buying and topping up

Ping is safe and secure, and offers Buyer Protection. There are no fees when making a payment.

Use Ping to pay for purchases on-site, or top up your Trade Me account. To pay for an item – look for Ping under 'Payment options' on a general Marketplace listing.

Buy now

  1. Select Ping when choosing your payment method.
  2. Enter your card details – or choose a saved payment method.

Auction

  1. After you've won an auction, head to your Won items.
  2. Select 'Pay with Ping' on the listing.
  3. Enter your card details – or choose a saved payment method.

Top up

  1. Head to My Trade Me and select 'Credit my account'.
  2. Enter your top up amount, then add or select a payment method.

Payment methods

Edit, update or remove your saved Ping payment method at any time. 

To use an NZ bank account to pay with Ping, your account will need to be verified.

We accept the following credit cards:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • American Express
  • Prezzy Card (buying only)
  • Q-Card

To use an NZ bank account with Ping, you must:

  • have a feedback rating of at least 98%, and
  • receive feedback at least 10 times.

 

Selling

Payments received appear instantly in your Ping balance.

To receive payment via Ping, select it as a payment option when starting a listing. Ping can be used on purchases up to $10,000.00.

Fees

A 1.95% transaction fee is deducted automatically – from the full payment amount, including shipping.

Ping fees are refunded automatically when a full or partial refund is made.

Ping balance

Your Ping balance can be used to pay for Trade Me purchases, or transferred to your NZ bank account.

To pay with your Ping balance, select 'Ping balance' when making a payment.

Refunding Ping payments

If a trade that was paid with Ping can’t be completed, the buyer can be refunded. Refunds are made back to the funding source used by the buyer.

Ping fees and success fees are refunded automatically when a full or partial refund is made.

Refunds can be made within 45 days of the listing closing. To refund a payment older than 45 days, get in touch.

  1. Head toMy Trade Me'.
  2. Under 'My balances', select 'Manage Ping'.
  3. Select the transaction you'd like to refund, then select 'Refund'.
  1. Head to your ‘Sold’ listings through ‘My Trade Me'.
  2. Select the listing you want to refund.
  3. Under ‘Post auction activity’, select ‘Payment received’.
  4. Next to the paid amount, select ‘Issue refund’.
  5. Select the amount you wish to refund, and follow the prompts.
