Pay for items on Trade Me with money in your Ping balance
Use the money in your Ping balance to buy items on Marketplace or top up your Trade Me account. Learn about negative Ping balance.
What you can buy with your Ping balance
You can use the money in your Ping balance to:
- buy items on Marketplace.
- top up your Trade Me account.
You can’t use your Ping balance to pay for listing promotions or success fees. You’ll need to move the money from your Ping balance into your main Trade Me account first by topping up your Trade Me account.
Paying with your Ping balance
To pay for Marketplace items with your Ping balance:
- Check the listing to see if the seller accepts Ping as a payment option.
- Turn on your Ping Balance during check out. You'll see what Ping balance is available. If your Ping balance doesn't cover the entire purchase amount, you can pay for the rest with a debit or credit card.
Negative Ping balance
If a payment you made using Ping doesn’t go through with your bank, you’ll see a negative Ping balance. We’ve covered the payment, but you’ll need to bring your account back to $0.00.
To pay back a negative Ping balance you can:
- Add money manually to bring your balance to $0.00. Go to Manage Ping. Below your negative balance, select Top up to $0.00.
- Wait for another sale. If someone buys something from you through Ping, we'll take the money you owe from that sale.
