What you can buy with your Ping balance
You can use the money in your Ping balance to:
- buy items on Marketplace.
- top up your Trade Me account.
You can’t use your Ping balance directly to pay for listing promotions or success fees. If you want to allocate your Ping balance towards these, you’ll need to move the money from your Ping balance into your main Trade Me account first by topping up your Trade Me account.
Paying with your Ping balance
To pay for Marketplace items with your Ping balance:
- Head to checkout.
- Under 'How would you like to pay?' turn on your Ping Balance.
If your Ping balance doesn't cover the full amount, there is no need to top up. You can simply pay the difference with a credit or debit card.
Buying with a negative Ping balance
To buy items when you have a negative Ping balance, you'll need to clear your balance at the same time. At checkout, your total payment will include the cost of your new item plus your negative balance. This pays for your purchase and brings your account back to zero.
Negative Ping balance
If a Ping payment declines at your bank, your Ping balance will drop into the negative. Don't worry, we’ve covered the payment for you, but you’ll need to top up to bring the balance back to $0.00.
