Banks recently made changes so that account names and numbers can be checked in an effort to increase safety. Bank transactions leave a trail which also contributes to safety. Banks transfers are now pretty fast, certainly faster than Ping payments and bank transfers don't get chipped away in the process. Banks are also in a much stronger position to provide updated and reliable tech for their customer base, and while that updating may be an ongoing process, you don't see Under Construction signs on their sites on what appears to be a permanent basis. They are also less likely to apply surpr...
If all these changes actually improved the site, I wouldn't have such a negative response to them. But the reality is, TM has gone downhill since all the tinkering began. I will still buy, I'm addicted, but I will not list to sell here again, it is easier and quicker to donate my stuff to the op shops and let someone else worry about the latest round of added fees...
The way for TM to make more money is by increasing engagement, not by imposing fee increases and restricting options for those still loyal to the site. We all know numbers have dropped dramatically, and we know why. TM has lost the faith of many, this is not the way to bring them back.
There is a difference in the way Ping is viewed between buyer and seller that seems to be being ignored by TM. As a buyer I am fine with Ping, what's not to like? It's fast, easy, and comes with that safety thing which I may or may not have to use. Twice I think in hundreds of trades... But will I use it as a casual seller? Not a hope, too slow to get my money and the ticket gets clipped - I'm not selling to make a profit, but to get rid. But that's the old Trade Me, the biggest garage sale in the country. The before the offshore dealers were let in, before new tat (and a lot of it is cra...
There were no In Trade sellers back in the days when T M was such a lively community, such an attractive on line entity that begged to be swallowed up by some investment shark. So maybe you are onto something... ;-)
Btw, Callum? TM is about relationships. About repeat business. I understand the temptation to set rules and stick to them, but the traders who are focused on their buyers satisfaction are the ones who will always succeed. TM needs to think about that too.
A while back I deleted my Disney Plus account as a protest, knowing it was a mere fleabite in the scheme of things. But as we found out some fleas bite bigger than others. Protesting against stupidity and injustice is always worthwhile.
Exactly. Basic stuff everyone uses. Like the search engine...
TM also doesn't know the difference between less and fewer. Despite the drop in sales, members, and revenue... ;-)
It is a money grab. As is the service fees thing. Any claimes to the contrary are just facetious. The end result is fewer buyers, fewer sales, lowered profits for everyone including TM and the loss of hard built reputation. This is not the way to fight farcebook marketplace.
