We’ve all done that or been very close to it David. It’s a rookie mistake and you generally only ever do it once!If you have plenty of time before the auction closes, you can ask the seller to remove your bid. There’s some rules or guidelines around removing bids but off the top of my head I can’t remember the details. I had the exact same situation the other day. I removed the leading bid and the chap has since placed another, much lower bid. That’s ok with me as it would be a bit unfair if I was to capitalise on someone’s mistake.
Thanks Gary:)
I had issues with a buyer that I placed on my Blacklist. They then bid on another item a week later using a different account. I knew it was the same person because they gave the same delivery address. I cancelled the trade and got in touch with Trade Me to let them know what had happened. I’m not sure what action they took, but they said they would handle it from there. If you are certain both buyers are one and the same person, I’d cancel the trade and contact Trade Me.
I am sure you have done everything you can to find your parcel at the moment. But just incase you haven’t, go online with PBT and lodge an enquiry. I use them from time to time and they are normally excellent. The one time I had a parcel go missing in transit, they were very helpful at locating it.
Robert, whereabouts did you see the information about a 10cm thickness limit? I’m concerned that I may have sent parcels that were thicker than 10cm as I always assumed that so long as your item fitted in a bag that was no bigger than the dimensions (width x length) given in BAC, then all was ok.
As a seller, I definitely recommend offering Ping. It cuts down on admin and if you have to issue a refund for shipping etc, it is so much quicker and easier. As a buyer I always prefer to pay via Ping but will do internet banking if that’s the only payment option available. I continue to offer internet banking for buyers who are suspicious of Ping, particularly my older customers. I just had a look at last weeks stats and so far 29/38 sales were settled with Ping. Some of the other sales were paid via internet banking because of having to work out combined shipping costs after the sales we...
As a seller, I often put through refunds for overpaid shipping using Ping. It takes a few seconds to sort it out and is no trouble at all. If the seller has already sent your items in two separate parcels, then fair enough. Otherwise they should be providing you with a refund. I would contact them once your items arrive and if sent together, ask again for a refund. I would say something along the lines of ….I would be grateful if you could reconsider your decision not to refund me for the overpaid shipping. I appreciate that the error was initially mine and that you have offered free shippi...
Is it an ordinary auction or just a Buy Now? My understanding is that you can only have multiple quantities on a solely Buy Now listing.
This happens at least once a week for me. If I happen to see the email before I put the item on the courier, it’s no big deal to enter the new address. However if I’ve already sent the item, I make it the buyer’s problem to sort out. I just send them an email saying sorry, too late but you can go online and arrange for a redirection. So far, no-one has complained via the feedback system.
Also have a look at using Pass the Parcel in this situation. You can either use their courier bags or print your own label. Sometimes they are cheaper than Aramex or NZPost Courier. I am in the North Island and sometimes I find those small South Island towns are more expensive with Aramex than NZPost Courier.
