Unless its low value, Ive always asked for the item to be returned first before refunded. Sometimes people refuse, sometimes they insist on the refund first, sometimes they stop communicating, and sometimes they return. I didnt realise it was a legal entitlement Callum, do you know the applicable law?

Further to the original question. Something listed on the free listing day sells, and is also offered out at a FPO because you have 2 of them. If accepted does the second sale also have free success fees?

Yes I have had it for the odd trade a few times. The address email is sent from trademe but in the address area it states:   "Buyer to pick-up or make arrangements directly with the seller" Even though they have selected a shipping option      

Sounds like you've acted very reasonably - unfortunately some traders can be fickle with others for their random reasons.  Good luck with getting your refund

Michelle - unfortunately in the real world it doesnt work like that for 3 reasons - 1) auction shipping costs (regardless of where the quote is sourced from) has no mention in the auction that it's an estimate so widely regarded as the fixed amount, 2) when you buy something, you include the shipping cost to calculate the total cost to purchase. If this is an estimate it means the total cost might be more than you want to spend, 3) when bidding it is considered a contract/agreement between you and the buyer - how can the shipping be changed legally?

If you've only done 200 odd trades then wait until you hit 1000 or 5000, or more. Ive sometimes waited 3 weeks for a payment, after reminders and trademe intervention. Is it frustrating, yes - but they didnt eventually pay so all worked out. If you want to cancel the trade you can as it is outside of trademes policy, so just do it. However, you do realise if you relist it, wait a week and assuming it sells again then wait a bit more time to receive payment, that this will be longer than the 2 extra days the current buyer is making. If your auction states cash as a payment option then he can...

Well 7 days would make it Tuesday, but are you really worried about cancelling a trade because of 2 extra days? A sale is a sale after all.
