Lucy, the big problem here is that TM do not make the payment instructions obvious. There is a copy in their won items, but many people dont look in their won items folder. And on the email the buyer gets from trademe notifying the buyer of their purchace, the payment instructions are hidden under the guise of a nondescript tiny clickable link saying"view" or "further information". So buyers dont know to look there. Buyers need the payment instructions printed out at the base of the email from trademe, like they always used to be but are not now. Trademe need to step up and do a much much b...
Thanks for the info. Found the gallery "hidden in plain sight" but who actually knows thats there. Its really dumb. You have a tech company that has in its best interests to supply photos in the best way for the buyer (because if a buyer can see a full picture they are much more likely to buy and so TM then make more money). BUT they screw up the photo people see so its less appealling so that will drive down sales. Im totally bewildered by the dumb action of how the techies have set the picture to show. LUCY from TM, can you wade in on this??
I think its quite reasonable for a buyer to both ask and expect the full account name.It is their money and they have a reasonable expectation it is safe. While ou mention your feedback, maybe account is hacked, or seller turned rouge suddenly. You mention a partial match, while it "may" give you a hint its correct, it maybe a family member collecting the money in disguise of the account owner. If thetrade turned bad for some reason and the member needed to take a legal remedy, the proper account name would be needed as part of the process. In short the banks have put in situ the account an...
While its possible the other bidder asked for their bid to be removed, there is no sign of that in the questions section (although could have asked on another of their listings) so it does look as though they may have an "alternate" account to do just this to obtain max bid and then back out. They seem to run many $1 reserve so may have developed a "skill" at this. You also have the right to ask the seller to remove your max bid and /or all bids. Not good to now put another Max bid in as you have revealed your hand and he can manipulate that in the last minutes of bidding
Another trick is sometimes a street number is given to you that the courier base says does not exist. , again particularly prevalent for rural addresses. When printing ticket from a courier site, the ticket will then not print as address not recognised as an official address. The work around for this is to find an address on that road that does exist, insert that for the ticket printing, but in the "extra delivery information" part of the ticket, put the actual address in capitals. When the ticket is printed simply cross out the wrong street number with a pen and you are done
Many buyers do not know their post code correctly, particularly prevalent for rural dwellers. I'm not sure how this is possible as NZ changed the postcodes back in 2005 I believe and many have not updated to the new one yet, even though the correct one must be on every rates bill, power bill, bank statement etc. The other thing to remember is that you cannot tell 100% from a post code is rural or not. While if the 3rd number is 7, 8 or 9 in a postcode, about 98% of the time with NZ post it is rural, but there are a few exception (and vica verca). Other couriers don't use post codes as the ...
If away for 10 days another option is to keep listings running, but state in block capital in the listing that you are closed between certain dates and no pickups, shipping or email replies in that time. Also state that if they dont agree to that condition they are not to bid/ buy listing
It is likely to be one of two things. A/ The address with the courier it is going with is zoned rural, but they have selected urban option, (different courier brands have different rural zoning) B/ Or that it was priced with one of the couriers on Book a courier, but at the time of booking, that courier was not available, so it reverted to the other courier brand which is more expensive. both are comman issues on TM
