There is a dedicated link when closing your account. Use this link and look for the "Get in touch" button near the bottom https://help.trademe.co.nz/hc/en-us/articles/360007000092-Closing-your-account Don't forget to do it from the account you want to close, not the one you want to keep.
It's not that there is a benefit or not. It's what you legally have to do if you are "in-trade." You can't opt in or out just because you feel like it. You either are or you aren't. Very basically if you are selling something with an intention to make a profit, you are in-trade and that should be stated. As far as benefits, there are a few differences. A couple I can think of. You get access to the gold seller rebate for free shipping items. Buyers perhaps have more confidence buying from you because they are covered by both the Consumer Guarantees Act, and the TM buyer protection program ...
All of the major couriers have a $2000 limit. This is because that is the amount stated in the Carriage of Goods Act. So they are tied to that somewhat. However business customers can sometimes get access to higher cover rates on application Another thing you could look at is your own contents insurance. There might be something they can do, or you might even be already covered. Otherwise take the $200 deal or go and pick it up yourself. (Assuming you are the buyer)
Short answer you can't, as you have found out. Pretty sure even on a relist you are locked into one or the other format. There is a possibility Trade Me can do it if you email them.
Just an update on the URBAN/RURAL issue. I have now had 8 sales using the new template to RD addresses with Trade Me wording that we can't change. 4 of those have selected the correct shipping, 4 haven't. So it's 50% that get it wrong. Or 50% right depending how you view these things. I have mentioned the problem to Trade Me. I made the suggestion that they add the word URBAN in front of nationwide, or come up with some other solution. The kind of non-committal is response below; "I've passed that on to our Tech and Content team as I can definitely see how that could be frustrating. Just so...
Did the first buyer also not want it due to the scratch? Surprising perhaps she didn't learn from that and mention it when it was listed on Trade Me. Not sure why you/she would complain to Trade Me. The buyer noticed something that wasn't disclosed, your daughter made a lower offer and the buyer accepted it. Deal done. The only other option would have been to cancel the trade completely and then relist it mentioning the scratch.
I haven't been switched over to the new system yet to test but apparently you can't do that L If you make the mistake of searching for the brand and it doesn't exist it immediately goes to the next closest thing and selects it. From there there is no way out. It's a known problem that Trade Me are aware of, but like many other issues, haven't fixed. Here is another example thread about it https://help.trademe.co.nz/hc/en-us/community/posts/16107638605071-Selecting-Brand-for-a-New-Clothing-Listing
Hello jenchen The response on 26/08 said you needed to wait a few working days. Once that has happened I'm sure your refund will be there.
If identity verification has not yet been been confirmed then I would say the payment hasn't been released. When it has been confirmed, that should trigger the release from Trade Me's holding account. You'll just have to have a bit more patience until they get to your ID. From other posts on here it seems like there are many of these coming through at present for staff to process.
I agree ventreaterre. It is silly. Trade Me needs to stop "shipping to be arranged." If the seller can't list the shipping costs they should be blocked from listing anything. Hopefully they are working towards this. For you, just pay the item cost with Ping, this will cover you for Buyer Protection. Then ask the seller to setup another auction for you for JUST THE SHIPPING so you can pay that with Ping. Otherwise you can pay the shipping by transfer to their bank account. You will still be covered by Buyer Protection as you have paid for the item with Ping.
