How do I let Trade Me know the seller is avoiding fees by selling via their posted phone number?
I recently bought some items which were listed on TradeMe. The listing kept on reducing in number available despite no apparent sales. To view the items I needed to contact the seller through the listed phone number. That's when I became aware that he probably sold nearly $10000-worth of product without paying any fees. Certainly my purchase from him skipped T/Me. The rest of us pay fees on our sales. How do I let TradeMe know he is doing this? Cheers.

At the bottom of every auction Terrance there is a Community Watch link.
Click on that on a live auction and use the Option as below to report to Trademe.
It can take a while for the problem to sink in to Trademe, but repeated Copmmunity Watch reports sometimes bring results. There is a member that I regularly report that has over 70,000 current auctions with their phone number in but almost a year of repeated reports and they still do the same. Keep at them.

Unfortunately with the listing now down the watch link doesn't seem available?

Yes, as I mentioned it only works on a live listing. If the listing has closed and the seller doesn't have any other live listings, just use the Contact us link at the bottom of the page to Let Trademe know. Unfortunately by completing a sale outside Trademe yourself, you lose any protection Trademe can provide to you and you have reinforced to the seller that it's ok to do this.

When in drought and with hungry cows, I was forced to take what I could get. However, I want to let T/Me know that the seller is doing this, as I'm not comfortable just leaving it be. Cheers.

Kia ora Terrence, great advice here from Gary. You can report a seller on any if their listings via that link at the bottom of the page. Let us know the listing number you purchased from - even though you purchased off site, and give as much info as possible so the team can look into it.

Hi Michelle, The listing was Listing , but if you look at it the listing is part of a reducing relist; I think the first one had about 80? When I inspected the bales there were 38 left, and two other buyers were getting theirs the same day. I would like to think the seller was upfront enough to let you know he'd sold it all due to having his phone number on T/Me, and therefore paid the fee. I know it's tricky, because buyers do need to see the product before buying; I wouldn't like his bad behavior result in a policy which adversely affects the honest sellers. However, the fact is he owes T/Me fees for, at the very least, the $2600 I spent with him, and probably all of the baleage originally listed. Regards, Terrence
