Buyer has bad feedback

Hi Megan. How many positives do they have? I have sold plenty of items to people with negative feedback that have turned out to be fine. If the worst happens and they don't show up or pay the usual request fees back, relist, and leave negative feedback applies.
If you have safety concerns you can request payment before collection and / or arrange for the swap to happen somewhere other than your address. A local Service station is often a goodie. Plenty of cameras.

They have no positive feedback. There is one review on their profile and thats it.
They have emailed me to request pick up...on a completely different email address to the one on trademe. Both are one name & lots of numbers. It also went to junk mail.0 -

I see. If you are not comfortable requesting payment beforehand, or meeting in a public place I would contact Trade Me for advice. They would be able to do some background checks on the buyer to make sure everything looks OK. If you do decide to cancel the trade it would be best to have Trade Me on board in case the buyer decides to leave you negative feedback.

Megan - this smells, this smells really bad.
It could be fine, someone who muddles their way through technology, a bit of a noob basically. This could be the case, (it doesn't feel this way though). It could just be that they stuffed up their first trade, and are just having another go, so they may benefit from being given a chance.
If its a smaller item, just arrange to meet at a KFC car park at dinner time, there will be loads of people around and you will be safe. If its a larger item like a chest of draws, make a time, when you wont be home alone and have the item out on the front porch ready to go, so they dont enter your home. Also invest a beware of dog sign, even if you don't have a dog, just the threat of one can be a deterrent.
Good luck and be safe.

Kia Ora Megan,
I would be hesitant on that purchase also given the fraudulent feedback statement has not been removed by TM staff - As Callum & Simon have advised there are indeed Safe ways to proceed with the Trade to keep yourself and your address protected - If you do need to contact TM staff go through their "Live Chat" facility for direct assistance then & there rather than waiting day(s) for a response to an enquiry request.
Select the Contact us Link at the bottom of any TM page, give the landing page a count of 15+ seconds for the Chat Tab to Pop up in blue at the bottom right of your screen, there is a slight delay in this appearing.
Enter in the Chat bot which comes up once the Chat icon is selected - Talk to person - you will be taken to entering your details before arriving at the window to Chat with a Real Person/Staff.The manned hours weekdays are 9:30:am - 5:00pm and weekends 9:30am - 4:pmAll the Best - Cheers.0
