Ping refund not processed - what to do?
AnsweredI bought a laptop on Trademe, paid via Ping, it was not as advertised and the seller refunded me, again via Ping. I've seen screenshots from them showing the refund successful screen. But there's no refund in my ping balance. I opened a dispute thing via trademe, and got an automated mail back from Trademe saying "We will ask the seller to resolve this" except that the seller has already refunded. The problem is my refund has not been processed by Trademe/Ping. There doesn't seem to be any way to reach an actual human at Trademe to sort this out. Any advice on what to do at this point? Legal action?

Hi John. Firstly how long has it been?
I'd just keep an eye on your ping account for a day or 3 and if no refund comes through consider contacting Trade Me via Live Chat to speak to someone. You should also get an email from Trade Me to say the refund has been processed. Trade Me says it can take "upto 5 working days" for it to reappear on your card or bank account.
The first few emails around a dispute are automated, so don't worry about the wording there. It was good to open a Dispute and get things on record.

You may like to check your Bank statement for whichever card you used to pay for the item through Ping - when refunded the $ amount is returned to the payment source - Mastercard/Visa etc. - Cheers.
