Bid placed high above reserve on my car auction - how can I check if this is genuine?
Hiya, I am wanting to find out how I confirm genuine bid. Someone has bid on my listing $500 over the asking price, they haven't viewed the car which I recommended in the listing. They are the only bid so not like they were trying to outbid someone. They have a newish profile, with only one sale, no buying history. Now they've bid I can't edit or contact the person as the listing doesn't end until 12th Nov. Is there anyway I can contact them? Or am I better to remove their bid? Thanks

There is no general way to contact the member on the site unless they have other listings to ask a question on. Quite often people put higher bids on to scare off other bidders, I know I do. If you don't think the bid is genuine, then you can remove it. If you have decided you don't want to sell to anyone that hasn't viewed, then make sure to mention this in the listing, or add a comment underneath.

Kia Ora Joanna,
As the person is fairly new it could also be a case they meant to place an auto-bid which they accidently placed as the bid instead - fairly common and easy to do.
As their first Trade hasn't set off alarm bells you may just be their first positive buying experience to kick that feedback side off - we all started at 0.
You are right to be concerned and as such you will remain vigilant - there is alot that can change within the remaining 3 weeks of the Live Listing with plenty of opportunity for questions and further bidders, including further feedback placed for your Bidder also.
All the Best with your Sale - Cheers.
