How do I advertise for a Boarder?
AnsweredI've looked and can only see flatmates wanted. I don't know where I can post. Do you think I should post photographs? I do live on a very secure property and only want to offer board to another female. Full board - nice home - nice appliances - and does $200 a week sound fair? Everything in the bedroom is brand new and high quality...Waterview - but we are stuck between areas of high crime, though this property is very safe. Please tell me how to go about this? 😊

Hi Sharyn. No specific boarder category. You just list within flatmates. You might want to double check the law. I THINK it's OK to say females only if you are an owner/occupier and living there yourself as well but agents or landlords for example can't specify against age, sex, religion, etc. Personally I wouldn't mention high crime area in the ad either. Focus on the positive stuff :)

Kia Ora Sharyn,
As Callum has advised and checking with the law is a must to ensure correct advertising, you can wheedle out applicants that don't meet your specific criteria. - Definitely take photographs of room and living areas, you want to showcase all the New and High Quality furnishings you have to attract the right person. The price is made from sharing costs power, phone, groceries etc therefore what you see as being utilised as extra costs with an extra person is how to balance a fair asking price. If you have a wander through the Flatmate Ad's this will give you an idea as to your Sale pitch here in attracting the right person for you. All the Best - Cheers.
