Buyer Cancelled Signature on Expensive item and requested it be left at front door

So I just sold a phone to a buyer and paid extra to have it delivered with signature required due to the price of the item $1300, I checked the tracking tonight and the buyer has removed the signature and asked the courier to leave it by the front door.
If this parcel now gets stolen from his front door after deliver am I liable and have to repay him?

as they have changed the conditions of Auction & shipping after you had sent it,
It is the same as if a buyer themselves gets their parcel redirected, this now becomes a buyers problem if something goes wrong,
as they have changed the conditions after a sender as sent it,
the same rule applies if they have an ATL in place and seller sends Signature required, as a buyers ATL over rides the signature and couriers will just sign and leave like a normal parcel as the buyers request,
Just be careful, this maybe a scam to get a full refund if they claim gone missing, sorry but this comes to mind,
it actually sets off alarm bells for me,

flossy63 Community SuperuserEditedIf I was you, I would give Trade Me the heads up & raise your concerns on how you feel about this buyers actions, and feeling like it maybe a scam to be refunded if it goes missing,Contact them tomorrow on Chat. as they will note it on the buyers account, as if it could be a scam,their account may indicate concerns raised before on this buyer, which Trade Me will see, but not disclose,but it will be on their account for the future if others have concerns,So many scams going on lately, you can never be too careful,2
