Clothing Category - no option for "none"
I've complained about this issue before with Trade Me as it's been issue since the upgrade (so well over a year) and it's still not fixed. When listing clothing the drop down box for Brand is full of brands that haven't existed for 15 years but doesn't incl many common ones that have been around for 10 years now (like Switch from Farmers). When using my desktop, I press 'S' to scroll down to find Switch , it doesn't exist so it just chooses whatever my cursor was on at the time and I cannot change it. It becomes false advertising. Same problem on mobile. I've asked once or twice for them to just add a brand "none" or "not listed" or similar, but it still continues to do this. Is there a work around? The site is so buggy now and it doesn't get fixed when there's an issue. It's becoming so frustrating.

Hello trinced.
The only workaround at present is to use My Products. Trade Me's free listing tool. This will allow you to edit the brand, select none, or even better, add your own custom brand if Trade Me doesn't have it in their database.

Hi. Using desktop, if you cannot find your brand, don't click on anything in the selection. Click on the blank space to the right outside the box and it should show no brand and you can just add it in your description. Hopefully this still works.

I haven't been switched over to the new system yet to test but apparently you can't do that L
If you make the mistake of searching for the brand and it doesn't exist it immediately goes to the next closest thing and selects it. From there there is no way out. It's a known problem that Trade Me are aware of, but like many other issues, haven't fixed.
Here is another example thread about it

Thanks Callum. I'm still being chucked around between the 2 sites so haven't struck that yet. I find it interesting they cannot add an option at the top of the field for none or something similar to clarify. Surely if they can add a new brand they can add this? Especially when trade me guidelines state traders have to be clear about what they are selling. As trinced stated, misleading.

I just looked at the previous post. 3 months on and still nothing. Brilliant.

Thanks everyone. I'll try Callum's idea. Is that on mobile?

My Products is only available on Desktop. But if you select it within the App it will kick you out to the desktop browser on your device so you can complete it there. It is better to do on a proper desktop computer though, in my opinion.

Hi trinced. Please be aware if your listings are now in the new look trade me they won't be able to be imported to my products. They will need to be fully created again. Please see the post below with the information provided from trade me staff Michelle.

Ah, thanks L, that will be very time consuming as I always have a lot of listings. I'll keep that option for new listings.
