Why does trademe hide the closing bid of auctions?

Nor does it say which trader won the auction. It’s because systems have been updated to a new platform, cheaper backend to keep costs down, crapper UX.

As far as I know Trade Me have not yet chimed in to say why this has changed. It could be just a result of the current upgrades, or it could be deliberate for privacy reasons.
Either way, with all the other issues piling up it's perhaps regarded as a nice to have, rather than critical. So potentially it's down the bottom of the list to fix.
'Bout all you can do at the moment is use the "tell us what you think" link at the bottom of the closed auction to explain your issue.

This bigger picture of hiding bidding history, it will allow shill bidders to run rife, as no history to leave trails on members sales etc. via their sold feedback, as where we use to pick up suspicious activity, especially new accounts, bidding on just anything of a members listings etc.?, and unless we can see them to report them with our suspicions they will not get picked up,
They need us to see bidding history and closing price so we can see current market values too,
some of these new changes have not been thought through well, and they have not looked outside the box to see the bigger picture, as these behind the scenes developers are obvious not users of the site, and do not have knowledge what goes on & can go on, these changes are not making it a safe place, it is having a negative effect,
and us older bigger users can see that,
