Buy Now shipping options in My Products
TM's changes today to the standard listing method has driven me across to My Products, despite being a casual seller, simply because I want the option of offering free postage when a second item is purchased - yes I still use snail mail.
I managed to create a few Auction listings successfully, but when I went to create a Buy Now, the Shipping options changed from the following for an Auction :

to this when Buy Now is selected - Specify shipping costs disappears - why????:

I can't use a shipping template because it seems not to recognise the possibility of normal mail.

Hello westham.
The very easiest answer is to have free shipping and build that cost into your buy price. But if that doesn't work for you, like you are having auctions rather than buynows there is another option.
I know you said you don't want to add a shipping template. But you should. They streamline everything at listing time.
If you hit the tab "other" for the carrier when you make your shipping template it opens up a much larger selection of options to choose. For smail mail you might like the sound of 7-14 days non-rural for example.
It's not really necessary to have "NZPost" as your carrier, as this info is not shown to the buyer anyway.

Thanks Callum
I have created a shipping template and it works for me. It was the "Combine with another purchase" option in the template that solved the problem.
It doesn't answer the question (and I don't expect you to be able to) as to why the shipping options for Buy Now are different to those for Auctions.

Westham, the reason shipping is different for Buy Now Only listings vs "auctions", is that these can be bought combined in Trademe's shopping cart function, and with Buy Now only listings that are often MQLs (Multi Quantity Listings), buyers can select more than 1 item at a time and pay one shipping charge, if that's something the seller offers. The seller can also specify shipping is per item, not per order.
MP (My Products) also offers Shopping cart adjustable discounts that are applied automatically when a buyer chooses to buy through the cart eg Free shipping when a buyer orders 4 items, or like I do, Free shipping if a buyer buys $40 or more of products via the cart, or whatever the seller offers (via what they have setup in their MP settings page). These discounts for buyers only apply to Buy Now Only listings for purchases made via the cart.
