Reset Watchers
Is there a way to reset the watchers to zero when you relist an item so it is only people that are actively looking, save the item to their watchlist again? While I can see some benefit in the item staying on the watchers list when relisted, I feel it doesn't give a true representation to the seller of the number of people actually interested. I think to have the option as a seller to reset watchers on your listing to zero would be of benefit.
(I hope that makes sense)

The only way to do that is not to relist but use the "sell similar" option. OK if you only have a few listings because you have to go through the whole next - next - next process for each listing. Cheers.

Yes, as Paul said, you can't reset it to zero without using sell similar.
Most people are now aware that items do stay on their watchlist. I do it myself for items I don't want right now, but will do in the near future. So by using sell similar, you would potentially lose some future buyers.
I find it quite useful that they stay. If nothing else new buyers that come along will see that there are a number of watchers. It can spur them to buy thinking others are interested........

Also having those watchers stay means if you drop the price they get notified. I've made a fey sales doing that.

Its a pain and Trademe aren't interested in helping users that are frustrated with it.
If you use My Products, you can duplicate the listing and give it a fresh Product Code to clear all the stale watchers. I do it every few weeks to get a true indication of interest on my listings.

It's a pain that time after time the same watchers show up and don't respond to FPO. I very rarely get a sale from FPO's even with a dropped price. Watchers should have limited rollover (5 times maybe) and switched off if an offer is not responded to. This would stop people turning off the receive offer function and remind them that they have watched items to sort out.

Ninook. I suspect it is partly to artificially boost Trademe's stats, by including 'ghost watchers' into buyer/seller engagement figures.
I have rolled over the same auction for a few weeks and accumulated maybe 15-20 watchers. Then when I have relisted it as a separate auction, which excludes the 'auto watchers', I might get 3 or 4 watchers when it closes. That tells me that the 'ghost watchers' have either purchased from someone else or just naturally moved on.
It just seems like another TradeMe 'feature' that benefits Trademe itself, more than it does the members.

It's all rather chaotic.
I have some but not all watchlist items expire then magically re-appear, sometimes useful, often not, would prefer an option to not have expired items re-appear.
FPO - don't do them any more, most watchers are too lazy to reply.
When there is a request to FPO or re-list it would be useful to know who is making the request.
