Exact Search Function Not Working with quotation marks
AnsweredHi all,
I've been trying to find "Marcs" branded bags, but of course when I type this in tons of "Marc Jacobs" bags pop up in the results. This is even after I used the quotation marks, as well as trying "Marcs NOT Jacobs" as in TM's own search tips.
Neither of them work and I was hoping to save this search for a very specific handbag I am looking for!
Any ideas how to fix this?

Ria, you should not include the full search in " " eg this one
Marcs NOT jacobs NOT saben NOT brie
brings just 11 results, so should narrow things down for you a bit to enable a save search working ok.
'Marcs NOT jacobs NOT saben NOT brie' for sale in Bags & handbags | Trade Me Marketplace
There are still some random inclusions, but overall not too bad. It's a bit harder when the name ends in an s as TM makes no distinction between marc and marcs.

One day "TradeMe" may activate the exact search function.
i.e. Bracketing a word within a search string with dittos, as per on most sites, results in exact 'finds'.
On TradeMe - zippo/ziltch/nothing. All that comes up is a huge rubbish pile of results that may or may not have what has been searched for that can take hours of picking though - that is usually an absolute waste of time.
There must be a reason why exact searches are blocked, but nothing comes to mind.
Does anybody know why TradeMe blocks simple exact searches?
