When you have Watchers do you FPO or relist?
AnsweredHi all, Im noticing more these days that there are quite a few watchers that seem to be carried forwards when an item is relisted. A few weeks ago I offered quite a lot of auctions and not one person either took the offer of even declined. I get the feeling on my $20.00 items that i am expected to give the item to them at a silly price just to get rid....not the case! I obviously have the remedy in my hands which is to not offer items under a certain price but am wondering what others do in this situation.

As you say watchers are carried over. So it's up to you if you send FPO or not. You would need to do your own research to see if it's worth it. For me I weigh up the choice of having my item in front of potentially 4 million people if it's listed, or 2 or 3 watchers under a FPO. I know which makes more sense to me..........
Still, if I have multiples of the same item I send a FPO and it's relisted. If I only have 1, there is no FPO it is relisted only. This is all automated via My Products.

Hi dreamjewels, some excellent advice from Callum here. I am a casual seller, just sell one off's mostly low value items. I factor in "times are tuff" currently for a lot of potential buyers. When pricing I make the starting price very close to what I would do a FPO for, if I was to do one in the future. Therefore that price is available to the widest number. It is worth remembering some watchers may have a similar item to sell themselves, so they just want to see what you get for yours. Nothing wrong with them doing that, quite legal, but they are very unlikely to ever purchase yours. A three day FPO will just kill your potential selling time when you could have the items relisted. I only ever offer for one day, if they do want it they will respond. Also if a potential buyer missed the auction closing time they can always send a request via the site to the seller for a FPO or a re-list and you can do the FPO at that stage knowing you have a genuine potential buyer. With low value items and shipping prices being what they are, sometimes similar or more than the selling price, that works against your selling (especially if R.D) as well. I allow pick-ups which helps, but of course that is the sellers prerogative to have or not to have. That does not work for everyone. Good luck, hopefully you have some pre-xmas sales.

In 20 years maybe 2 people have taken up an offer, so not worth it. Most seem to be others selling or intending to sell the same thing and wanting to know what it sells for.

Kia Ora dreamjewels,
It's also worth noting with these Relisted items being auto-added back on Members watchlists not every Member will be aware this is happening as it's a fairly new feature therefore if they're not frequent visitors to the site they mayn't realise they need to delete the Listing from their watchlist & their Lost items to prevent this cycle. - That being said there's every possibility redundant FPO's may be going out also. - There's also every possibility Members may be saving their pennies to purchase and in lieu of not having a wish list to place items the watchlist becomes as such. - Cheers.
