Hi Gary - I think you probably have already but if not, please let us know via email or chat of that member's details and we can check that out.
Hi Robert - It's widely known that scammers are becoming more sophisticated and their methods more complex, which is why it’s never been more important to be vigilant and use trusted platforms. Sadly this isn't something unique to Trade Me but being a regulated marketplace our dedicated Trust & Safety team are constantly looking at new ways we can protect our members and putting measures in place to keep bad agents off our site.0 -

I hadn't emailed already Lucy as it was such an obvious one I assumed the team would already know, but have emailed details through just now.

Lucy, I pointed out rather clearly that TradeMe choose NOT to be pro-active around these scammers from what I can see.
For example, these scammers hack into peoples accounts, create listings, and then change payment instructions or various other things.
A simple confirmation email to the listed email of each hacked account would alert the account holders to having been hacked. Two-step authentication would stop it. Requiring authentication when a login from a new device occurs would stop these scams. I could go on but I don’t believe they are taking it seriously. That’s my opinion.
And profiting from Ping could be disincentivising too. If simple security measures can be done by other sites, why not TM?
