How do you import a listing footer to all my current listings on My Products
AnsweredHi Guys.I would appreciate it if someone with experience using "My Products" could tell me how to export all my listings with a listing footer.I went into the settings & went to the listing footer section & punched in my message & saved. But looking at my listings this message doesn't appear on any of my auctions.I then went to one of my listings & edited it to tick the box with my footer & then it asked whether I wanted to edit all my listings with this footer & I ticked the yes & still nothing, even on the one auction I edited. Not sure what I'm doing wrong ?

Best way to do it Phil is to on the main MP product list page, clear any searchers or filters you may have, on the line under the filter bar click the down arrow and select all. The Bulk edit will now appear on that line, click it and select Listing footer, the box will then be populated with what you have written in the other section, so make any edits you want, then tick the box that says update current listings, then the Update xxx products blue button.
It can sometimes take several minutes (5-10) depending on server loads for changes to show in live listings.
If you find that after 15 mins listings haven't updated, repeat the process and add an extra full stop or an edit in the same way as above and re-update. Give it another wait.
If you need to immediately update a listing, you can do that on an individual basis by going in to a product, make a change in the description area, then save and update and generally this makes the edit immediately.

I do not know what I'm doing wrong. It states I have successfully updated all my listings with the listing footing setting but I go live to my listings after waiting 15 mins. or so & there's nothing there. If I go to one of my listings on the "My Products" page the box is ticked for the footing message but it's not there.I have tried about 3 times now & haven't been successful.I haven't tried the "extra full stop or an edit" Gary as I don't know how to do this ?

If the footer message is not there, have you checked on your settings tab in MP that there is listing footer text there that you want? This is what gets pulled across in to the products. Also, you can edit the footer directly in any product and this is the same footer that's used across all products, as per in the settings tab.

Nothing get's downloaded as such to your listings Phil. What the footer does is that when MP creates a new listing from a product and that product has the tick in the box to say use common footer, MP copies the text from your saved footer and adds it to your description. Think of it like this, create a new listing description = product description + common footer text (if use common footer is ticked in the product).
The important check is to look in a product and make sure the footer is shown there and the tick box is checked. The footer text is not actually part of the product, but is a link to the common footer and if the tick box is ticked, then it displays the common footer as set up in your settings page.
Might be best to work on just one product at a time to check things are working, then you can do the bulk edit. It would be a good idea to watch one of your listings that's due to close soonest, check the product is set up correctly, then check the new listing that is created when the old one finishes and relists. If you do this, and you know the product is set correctly, the footer is shown in the product, then there is no reason a relist from this product would not show the footer in the listing. If it doesn't, then it's a bug and you can report to TM.
Another way to do it is to export all your products to csv, check and edit the csv, then import the corrected file. This is not a step to do lightly though and unless you know what you are doing and understand it well, you have an opportunity to really muck things up. Guide here.. I have checked several of my auctions & they all have the tick box checked with the footer message which is in my Settings page which of course is also ticked. But the footer message doesn't appear at all on any of my 600 + listings.I can't experiment with one listing ending shortly as I'm going away for a week on monday week & I don't want to relist till I get back.I certainly will stay away from the CSV option as my knowledge on these things is poor.I'll have to get in touch with TradeMe as in the past I have managed to load the footer successfully when I was using it a few years ago. Thanks very much anyway Gary for your help.
