I am searching the Reference # but I am getting a different listing than the one I bought
I won two auctions by the "Buy Now" option.
I received the email from Trademe with the reference number that starts with P. However, I am now searching the reference number and I am getting a completely different transaction/auction and the item I bought is not the same as the item currently showing under the same Reference Number!!!
Could someone please explain why to me?

Kia Ora Mo,
P reference numbers can't be searched on the system, If you go to your Won items your Buy Now purchases should be there - click into the Listings if you need further confirmation. - Cheers.

Thank you so much for your reply.
However, I thought if I search trademe,co.nz/ then put the reference number (but without the P) then that should take me to the auction page. Is this assumption not correct?e
For example, if the Reference # is P239876545, then go to trademe.co.nz/ then put this number 239876545 (without the P) after the /, then I should be redirected to the auction or listing page. Please could you confirm if this assumption is correct or incorrect?
Could you please tell me if there is away I (as the buyer) could get a third party to be able to search a specific listing that has ended?
Thank you so much

Hello Mo. Each item on Trade Me 2 numbers associated with it. A listing number (that can be searched) and a reference number staring with P. As S says, the "P" reference number is private between the buyer and seller and can't be searched. You can't remove the P and search just the numbers. You will get something else entirely. As you found out.
So you can search for your item using the Listing number but not the reference number. Clear as mud?
To get a third party to find the item you need the Listing number, not the reference number.

You just click the link to the auction from your "won" email, or from your items I won page. This will directly open up the link to the item.

Kia Ora Mo,
You are incorrect - the P number can't be searched - Each Listing has a Listing number at the bottom of the Listing page, the Listing number can be searched in the system - Once it is sold it gets the Selling number code, either a P or K number which can't be searched in the system by Buyers or Sellers. If you have a specific problem as to why you need to search a purchased item, like it's not in your Won items page then TradeMe staff will be able to look into what has happened for you.
If a Listing closes unsold we can search expired Listings - when the item closes sold we can search by the Listing number if you happened to note that but not by the Sold P number.
What is the trouble you're having? - Is the item not in your Won items?

Sorry I didn't see your conversation 😊

This is where you find the Listing number at the bottom of the Listing itself - I've blocked the actual number out in red as we can't display these in this Public Forum.
