How to do an Exact Match Search
AnsweredHow do you do an Exact Match search ?
Try searching "The Middle" (with quotes) and there are thousands of matches for "the" and "middle".

Not sure what you are searching for Paul, but you are probably best to search for middle without quotes so it searches titles only, then narrow down by choosing the most likely category. I get same number of results just over 2,200 searching for the middle and middle. The is often ignored in search algorhythms. Excluding the doesn't really change things either eg "middle " NOT "the".
If you really have to search in descriptions, then you get 65,000+ for "the middle" and the numbers per category are still quite high, but choosing the most likely category then removing the "" to search titles only once in that category, may help.
Descriptive words like small, middle, large etc are hard to search for as they are used in many items to describe things rather than name things. You see similar search problems with placenames that also match products or company names and even real estate agents names eg Temuka, Hinuera, whitestone,

I am trying to search for "The middle" - the name of a TV series.
Yes - I was searching under TV and Movies.
Ideally it would, assuming no results, say No Match!

Wow - that is so backwards.
Even doing this it is still about 30 hits in, and this is with "best match".
So much for being able to find stuff :-(

You have not answered pauls question. I have the same issue, when I search something like The Middle I don't want to see everything with the or middle somewhere in it. Why is there no option to only search an exact phrase?
I found this while trying to find a solution to this real pain in the a**e problem. It happens so often I regularly just give up and look elsewhere.
