Seller put the wrong delivery address on my parcel
AnsweredHi everyone. Im unsure what to do about this. I won an auction and emailed the seller my address. Today I log into facebook and have a message from someone asking me if my parcel was delivered to their address, they show me a photo of the parcel which has my name and street name on it but the house number is wrong. I message back but unfortunately as I dont log into facebook everyday and the message was sent 3 days ago, my neighbour sent the parcel back to the post office. Now, the parcel has no return address on it. What can I do? this was an expensive item, and I supplied the correct address to the seller, the seller wrote the wrong address on the parcel. Im assuming the parcel is or already has been disposed of at the postal office as there isn't a return address on it. I have emailed the seller explaining what had happened but I haven't yet heard back from them. Is this just one of those bad things that nothing can be done about it, or is the seller responsible?

The seller is responsible as they have sent to the incorrect address. I would get in touch with NZ Post and explain the situation to them - it is likely that they will still have it (assuming that the incorrect address is still on it). The seller should be the one looking into this for you, but as you are having no luck communicating with them...

Here would be my take-
If the Seller has hand written your address on the parcel, and has written something different from what you sent them, then it is the seller who has made the mistake and is responsible.But....
If the Seller has merely printed out what you sent (Copy and Paste into a word doc, then printed out for example) then you have supplied the wrong details and it would be the buyers own fault.

"the seller wrote the wrong address on the parcel" - so I am assuming it was the seller's mistake.

Thanks for all the answers everyone. I dont think the seller is purposely ignoring my emails, i think they may just be one of those people who doesn't frequently check their inbox. Hopefully PBT (first time im hearing of this courier company) still has my parcel and is able to send it to my correct address.

I am sure you have done everything you can to find your parcel at the moment. But just incase you haven’t, go online with PBT and lodge an enquiry. I use them from time to time and they are normally excellent. The one time I had a parcel go missing in transit, they were very helpful at locating it.
