Questions and answers are available on Marketplace and Motors listings for buyers to learn more about the item you're selling.

Answer a question
Questions can be answered before the listing closes
To answer a question on the Trade Me website:
1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select Items I'm selling from the left-side menu.
3. Click anywhere on the listing to open the 'Listing detail' or 'Auction detail' page.
4. Scroll down to the Questions & Answers section.
5. Enter your answer. Select Answer.
6. The other member will be notified that their question has been answered.
To answer a question on the iOS app:
1. Go to Notifications.
2. Select Answer question.
3. Enter your answer. Select Answer.
4. The other member will get a notification that you've answered their question.
To answer a question on the Android app:
1. Go to Notifications.
2. Select Answer question.
3. Enter your answer. Select Answer.
4. The other member will get a notification that you've answered their question.
Add a seller comment
If bids have been placed and the listing can't be edited, add a seller comment instead. This will show as a standalone comment in the Q&A.
To add a seller comment on the Trade Me website:
1. Go to My Trade Me.
2. Select Items I'm selling from the left menu.
3. Click anywhere on the listing to open the 'Listing detail' or 'Auction detail' page.
4. Scroll down to the Questions & Answers section.
5. Enter your comment. Select Add seller comment.
To add a seller comment on the iOS app:
1. Go to 'Items I'm selling' and select the listing.
2. Select Add a comment.
3. Enter your comment. Select Send. This will show as a standalone comment in the Questions & Answers section.
To add a seller comment on the Android app:
1. Go to 'Items I'm selling' and select the listing.
2. Select Add a comment.
3. Enter your comment. Select Send. This will show as a standalone comment in the Questions & Answers section.
After the listing closes
- Questions can't be answered once the listing has closed.
- If the item hasn't sold, relist and add the info to the description.
Remove an answer or seller comment
Removing an answer or seller comment isn't available on all listings.
If it isn’t available, we can remove the answer or seller comment for you. To get in touch, look for the chat icon in the bottom right corner of this page.

You can remove an answer or seller comment from your own listing.
To remove an answer or comment:
- Log into trademe.co.nz in your browser (you can't remove answers or comments from the app).
- Go to My Trade Me.
- Select Items I’m selling from the left-side menu.
- Click anywhere on the listing to open the 'Listing detail' or 'Auction detail' page.
- Scroll down to the Questions & Answers section.
- Select the red bin icon under the answer or comment you want to delete.
- Confirm that you want to remove the answer or comment.
Remove a question
To remove a question from your listing:
- Log in to Trade Me Help by selecting Log in from the top right corner.
- Start a chat with Tautoko bot and say 'remove question.' To start a chat, look for the chat icon in the bottom right corner of this page.
To prevent a buyer from asking future questions, add them to your Blacklist.
