Make an Offer
Make an Offer lets buyers offer an amount, for the seller to accept or decline.
Make an Offer lets buyers offer a price to casual sellers for Marketplace and Motors listings.
How Make an Offer works
On some listings, you can offer an amount you’re willing to pay. The seller can choose to accept or decline your offer, or make a counter offer.
Casual or private sellers can include the Make an Offer option on their Marketplace or Motors listings.
- Only casual sellers can include Make an offer on their Marketplace listings.
- Only private sellers can include Make an offer on their Motors listings.
- Buyers need an authenticated account to make an offer.
- Only listings from casual sellers have Make an Offer available.
- Offers are private and can only be seen by the buyer and seller.
- Offers are valid for 24 hours unless the auction closes first.
- Buyers can make a maximum of 7 offers per listing.
- Afterpay is not available with Make an Offer.
- Making an offer will add the item to the potential buyer's Watchlist. It'll stay there even if the seller declines the offer.
Making an offer on auctions
If a listing is an auction with a reserve price, buyers can use Make an Offer until the reserve price is met. When the reserve price is met, Make an Offer won’t be available anymore and all outstanding offers will be declined.
If the listing is an auction without a reserve price, then any bid placed higher than the offer will decline any outstanding offers.

Making an offer on Motors listings
When the seller accepts an offer you make on a Motors listing, we re-run the background checks and let you know the results before you make a final purchase.
If the car doesn't pass the checks, we cancel your offer. You can choose to make a new offer, with the background check information in mind.
