The answer is no - Free is shipping is Free, and its up to them to absorb the costs, mistake or not, you agreed to a deal. However, you have no way of actually compelling them to do so, It may just be simpler to pay the $8. Just ask yourself is the item worth another $8 - Do you need it? Is it something you have wanted for a long time? Is it hard to get? Does it complete or enhance a prized collection? If the answer to these question is YES, then just pay the $8 to get it done - But only if you are prepared to Trust them! You do run the risk of them absconding with your original payment, an...
Hi Shirley, that needs to be done when the listing first goes up, you could withdraw it and start again, which wouldn't be a bad option if its only been live a few hours, but if its been up for day(s) already, you best just let the auction play out, and you get what you get, withdrawing auctions causes a lot of upset bidders, its not worth the hassle of annoying a whole lot of T-Me users. (Unless we are talking a really high value item).
Here would be my take- If the Seller has hand written your address on the parcel, and has written something different from what you sent them, then it is the seller who has made the mistake and is responsible.But.... If the Seller has merely printed out what you sent (Copy and Paste into a word doc, then printed out for example) then you have supplied the wrong details and it would be the buyers own fault.
Lots to un-package here my friend, unfortunately Trade Me is awash with non compliant electrical goods. Your client should be asking for a refund, it depends on how they were advertised in the first place, but if there were parts of the original advert that would lead a 'reasonable' person to believe that the item is fit for purpose, then they would be covered by the consumer guarantees act, and would be entitled to a refund. It also depends a bit on if the Seller is "In Trade" as the rules differ a bit for these sellers as opposed to "mum and Pop" casual sellers. "In Trade" Sellers are exp...
For sure Gary, I put reserves on myself on occasion if I want to try and protect a niche item, but also want to create a fun listing. But maybe I miss understand the OP, It reads to me that they want to make the reserve price, and the start price the same thing, which to my mind seems a bit pointless, because if you have set the start price as your reserve, then its value is already protected.
Hi Gary - Good on you bud, maybe they just take you more seriously than me ... which would be sad, as the rules should apply equally, the very fabric of society is based on rules. I just have a problem with the whole community watch system, this scenaro just demonstrates how arbitrary it is. Reports are not acknowledged, and if something gets withdrawn or not, is up to the whim of whomever is checking the mail on that day. I find the knives thing very frustrating, because at some point a decade ago someone sat down and made their own rules, someone who in all likelihood no longer works at ...
Hi there Gary nah they didn't bud, the auction closed and the seller sent me a fixed price offer, it was never removed. If they have changed the rules -cool, they also need to update their banned/restricted guidelines. Edit: There is slightly more to the story, this is item has had been relisted (at least once that i know of), I reported it the first time it went up, I think it had 3 days to run at that point, but i never kept note of it to be sure. This time round I sent the report with 6 days to run, they had plenty of time to see it.
Whoever made the booking is the one that is responsible for chasing them up, in this case it would be the seller.
I let them, in fact I encourage it. It gives you a chance to interact with them, show them a good time and be genial, then you are much, much less likely to deal with buyers remorse post sale. I feel, that by just letting them look, if they decide its not as described or whatever and dont want to go through with the sale, its some much easier to deal with it then and there, rather than mucking about afterwards doing a refund, then contacting customer support to get a red face removed ...
This almost sounds like your photos are too big. They need to be under 5 MB, you may need to do a re-shoot, make sure your camera is set to 4:3 - your other option is to load your pictures into a photo resizing app, and get them under 5 MB that way before you can load them onto Trade Me.
