Stefanie, IMHO, the only option for those who have not switched and after reading the posts in this thread, decided to not switch now, is to NOT click that "Update to new template" link in My products (this is IRREVERSIBLE). Try to hold off for as long as you can, but don't expect this feature to get fixed before Trade Me forced all of us to switch to the new templates. In the meantime, start thinking about ways to work with the new templates, so we don't get caught off guard when they switch everyone over.
Although I don't buy on Trade Me, but it's good to know there's such a "feature", I'll remember to capture a screenshot. Maybe get in touch with Trade Me? I'm sure they have the record in their database. Or maybe you could just lodge a dispute, Trade Me has a professional dispute team to handle that.
There are so many ways: Lodge a dispute with Trade Me if it's a bad transaction Community watch if it's in a listing Live Chat if others Contact us form if live chat is not available Finally, I think the best way to deal with them is to just ignore them, giving them the attention is just a waste of energy. Unless of course if they are threatening you, then call the police.
IMHO, the first buyer if you believe they are legit, should be the one who gets to buy the item. BUT, if the second buyer (who did the "Buy now") have already paid for the item, then the "Buy now" buyer should get it since it's already been paid for. Regardless of whether it's been paid for, you'll still risk getting a red face if you cancel the "Buy now" deal, so I'll still just sell to the "Buy now" buyer, and tell the first buyer "sorry". I usually won't list an item on multiple platforms if I don't have multiple items in stock to handle the sales, I'll just list in the "other" selling ...
Robyn, not sure if the new shipping template is working as WE thought how it should be working. I did a quick search and found listings from a particular seller are all showing up as "Expected delivery in 9-16 business days". But in the listings, the "promised" delivery time frame is 2-3 weeks (shipped from AU) for one and 2-5 business days for another, both from the same seller. So yes, it works both way, can be an advantage or disadvantage to the seller. But I still don't see how these information is going to benefit a buyer, since in this case, the "estimates" are no where near what a se...
Kate, I know there will be grumpy buyers, that's why I said in an earlier message that I won't want to "promise" a delivery timeframe. Now that we have the FAQ in black and white from Lucy (aka Trade Me), I can direct all grumpy buyers to the FAQ. I've also included a disclaimer in all my listings asking buyers to ignore any delivery "estimates" shown in my listings. Lastly, I'll just get Trade Me to remove red faces....haha Looking at the problems everyone is talking about on here, I've decided to hold back switching until a few days before 31st Mar (to qualify for that lucky draw), hopefu...
Callum, not sure how that's going to work, Trade Me only mentioned in their email, "boosting any listings with shipping transparency in search results", there's still not enough users and data at the moment to see that in action. Can't see any differences now when doing a search randomly, those using the shipping template do not necessarily show up higher in the search results. If a buyer sort by prices for example, shipping options do not seem to affect the ranking, which makes sense, since the results are sorted by prices. Unless they eventually add a sorting preference by shipping time o...
As Lucy mentioned, they are just "estimates". So I guess the best way to get ranked higher is to over promise and risk under delivering in terms of shipping, ie. select the shortest time possible in the shipping template, as Lucy highlighted, they are just estimates not promises, so we won't be faulted for under delivering. Will have to experiment a bit to understand how the search algorithm works and how to take advantage of the algorithm to get ranked higher in the search results...haha
You're right, it's not your fault and you don't have to refund. If you have explained the situation to the buyer and they are still not happy, just ask them to lodge a dispute with Trade Me, Trade Me has a professional dispute team to handle this. There are very professional in handling disputes. After buyer lodged the dispute, you can then explain the situation to Trade Me, saves you a lot of trouble toing and froing with the buyer.
Kate, I'm also having a Pick Up "shipping option" as I charge for pick up (pick ups incur a different set of costs vs. shipping). That's is not going to work with the new template. It's understandable that the team implemented this feature have no clue about how things should work, they are afterall a group of full time employees who can't be full time sellers on Trade Me at the same time (probably casual sellers), only full time sellers have the visibility of how this feature should work. Doesn't look like Trade Me consulted any professional seller on here before making the changes. It doe...
