Thilak, I'm currently in the process of doing that right now, with very little success. I have been giving a lot of stock away as gifts to friends, a lot of brand new products have gone straight in the skip. Perfectly good products, just not feasible to keep relisting until relisting fees have gobbled up all the margin. The constantly increasing delivery costs are an issue as well.
This is what has happened,
This happens often, sometimes I believe its an honest mistake, but sometimes I think people are just being a bit cheeky. Also some addresses will show with a rural charge even though they are not RD addresses. Its the people that don't seem to know how to enter a delivery address that annoys me the most. "on the corner opposite BP" doesn't exactly work when booking a courier. You get used to these things, if there's a phone number we just call them up.
A little patience required on the buyers part by the looks. These things happen.
Providing the seller gives a 100% refund, I see no reason why they cannot back out of a sale. I have done this, for the same reason as Callum, however in my case the buyer got very abusive, threatening me with the police etc. My mistake was also very obvious, a $950 item offered for $9.50
We have actually removed many items from trade me, purely because we were paying listing fees and unable to find the items in search results and were getting no views at all. Unlike other platforms where even if spelling is a little off, you still manage to find things. Trade me just gives the, "We couldn't find anything matching your search. Have another go – you could try a broader search, or double check the keywords you entered"
NZ is broke, people are just not spending. Businesses are closing all over the place, meanwhile the supermarkets are killing it with their price games.
Hi, yes I removed it. Thought it wasnt of much interest to anybody.
Massive drop across the board, Trade Me has had its day. Trade Me visitor rates are down significantly, how can you sell something if it doesn't even get clicked on? TEMU & ALIEXPRESS have taken over, NZ'rs just want cheap stuff with free delivery nowadays. The reason our post costs have increased so much is because we are effectively paying their delivery costs in NZ. Based on our recent selling performance, we are going to close up, the issue now is how to get rid of the stock? I listed a few $40 items with $1 reserve and didn't even get starter bids. Time to do something else, sell ...
Shipping costs have increased greatly, yes. The biggest reason for this is Aliexpress & Temu, our postage costs pay for the delivery of those items once they get to NZ, hence we are effectively subsidizing our competition. This makes it not practice to sell small items anymore. The sale rates on my smaller items has fallen through the floor, this I believe is down to the shipping costs, why buy it from me for $10+$6.50 post when you can get it something similar from Temu for $5 with free delivery.
