Hi Hayley, the only solution for me was to change the email address in my trade me preferences to a Gmail account from my usual Yahoo one. Then I installed email forwarding filters to get everything sent over to my Yahoo address for convenience. I am sure there is a problem at the Trade Me end as I used Yahoo flawlessly for years without any problem. My attempts to whitelist the trade me sources (by adding them as Yahoo contacts) made no difference. And the Trade Me emails were not going into spam or deleted baskets, just never arriving.
Jillian, you can set up a new gmail account and set it as your Trade Me email account. Then set your Gmail account to redirect all incoming mail to your original email account. (I am using gmail in this example because I know it is easy to redirect). This does not solve the original problem but is a good workaround.
I changed the email account for my notifications and mostly it is working but NOT for this auction I won I received no notification email that I had won and the auction is date stamped Sunday Dec 5 on my PC which is not correct.
Thanks Lucy, this is a mystery. The address mailer@trademe.co.nz is definitely in my Yahoo contacts list, which is Yahoo Mail's whitelist. Nothing has appeared in my spam folder. I cannot find a Yahoo setting that might be deleting the incoming mails - please advise if you know of one (I have googled already and nothing shows up) About the time stamp, the time until auction closes is correct, just the stamp on the auction questions/replies seems wrong. It does not concern me unless it is related to the emails not arriving.
Thanks Lucy, but there seems to be a problem still. I did not receive Trade Me emails about 2 questions on the following auction time stamped Tuesday Dec 7. I did eventually see notifications (not emails) about them. Also the time stamping seems wrong; my reply is also stamped Tuesday although I did it today (Wed.) My computer date/time is correct. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/home-living/outdoor-garden-conservatory/garden-power-tools/weed-eaters/listing/3377416433?bof=C7GV25pB
Margaret, I got around this bug by setting up a new gmail address and making it my trademe email contact point. Then I set up an automatic forward of all emails from the gmail to my existing email account. It has been working over a year and I get all messages.
Haha. look in the help section, type ``live chat'' in the search box and you'll find it is not always available, it appears as a bubble on the Contact Us page ONLY when someone is available. So maybe try emailing questions to get someone's attention first. Start at HELP section, I suggest.
Cat, there is a link to the Trade Me Contact Us page above in a message from Hamish. I believe Live Chat is also useful for sorting out problems. In my experience you do get a response.
That's great; Hey Trade Me (Lucy?) please check if my email address has also gone to the TradeMe ‘spam complaints list’. That would explain a lot.
Margaret, the important one is whitelist, which means I add it to my contacts (in Firefox, differs between browsers) so it is recognised and emails from there are not treated as spam. Avatar is the little pictures in some emails and wildcards are a search/location device.
