Welcome, yes there's all the aforementioned problems you have described. Most frustrating and stupid to remove the most basic essentials including seeing who the watchers names are - without them it's become a very backwards website to operate. When we could see who the watchlisters were we could exercise our own judgement if we would make an offer, or establish if the person is a likely competitor selling similar items to check out market forces, and just general "good will" between users
Who is to decide if a person is "in trade" or not? Do we know that person's personal circumstances? Who are we all to judge without knowing the individuals situation, including if they may or may not be GST Registered?
Website is shambolic. Why coerce people to incorporate what suburb they are in for listing Casual sellers items? Leave it optional in the main body of listings. If someone really wants to know that can use Ask a Question. Meanwhile, isn't trade me a nation wide website? It's irrational. Don't start us on placing people who are already at risk of stalking to be subjected to further distresses. What's happened to 101 of Privacy. Whoever is behind these changes needs to be sent out the door.
It's incompetence all around, but hey what would we users know who don't have any idea where the 'Mysterious Survey' information is.
Gosh, to put this problem of Opted in by default, could you imagine if all men were sent a letter and automatically Opted in to receive Women's health care services? And vice versa? It's not the done thing to automatically Default all to the same settings. Good old Nudge Unit and Behavior Scientists at it in the background once again.
Same problem here. Just who did they "survey" and what questions were asked does anyone know? The Mysterious NZ survey sounds like someone's telling porkies and in breach of NZ laws for misleading practices.
Can we suggest those of you who have contributed or read this topic, write to APAX, ask them questions directly and tell them your opinion so they can address these negative consequences within there UK office? Not always possible to update browsers for whatever reason and we must be mindful and consider those who are unable to update browsers, devices etc, just like the 50 k people still only able to access 3 G. Oh for the days when Logic was applied in society and telecommunications provisions.
Tie ho, it is a contract between both parties so should be a mutually agreeable payment choice & option. Just like at ordinary shops, there may be options how to pay but ultimately it must be agreeable between both parties. Gosh, could you imagine how the ongoing saga to use Ping or Afterpay would play out if we were told that's the options to pay for one's groceries and necessities in life? It's overdue that Monopolies and Anti-Trust and Anti Competitive practices were addressed by Trade Me / APAX. It's shades of some in the 1970's and 1980's practices that came under scrutiny
That's crazy roger_269 Some people use places like Backloaders or Empty trucks or similar such services that will pick up items along there way across the countryside. Great way to get items picked up and delivered. We include in our listings for items that may be say fragile or larger that we are open to them being picked up at a later date by mutual arrangements if the person is from a different location in NZ than our own. Open lines of communication through message systems is 101 of good customer services.
