If you asked a question on some other auction then you wont see it until the person answers it or until the auction finishes. TBH, those questions ought to appear the moment they are asked if transparency is the key. If they are inappropriate then take action then because as it is they show up one way or the other but why hide a question which goes unanswered and some poor buyer wins and realizes there's an issue they never thought of.
Last week my auctions had changed as if by magic to free shipping WTF! Definitely was not me and now it’s a maze to contact Trademe about anything yet fees have gone up. Brilliant!
Thanks SJ,My questions to TM would be:1/ when did that change occur?2/ why isn't that info showing up when the message shows up and3/ why make sellers jump through hoops to get fees they rightfully deserve back? I think I get grumpy in my old age :)
There's been a lot of scams happening and I do not for a minute think TradeMe are taking these seriously. Thermomix has been one item that a lot have been scammed by. As for those accounts, they do look like ANZ but are generally 04 accounts which can be created in Australia so the NZ Police do not pursue. I think making Ping compulsory could be an answer but of course it just benefits TradeMe and costs sellers extra. But there's many other ways to ensure scammers aren't successful including the need to confirm logins etc.
POLICE UPDATE:The Police called the other day when I suggested their email saying they would not investigate wasn't in the public interest. I was told the "04" bank account numbers are not operated solely by ANZ.An "04" bank account number can be operated by another entity and in my case was coming directly out of Australia. The Police advice was to tell people not to pay into any 04 accounts if you were suspicious. Apparently there are a lot of scams on TradeMe being brought to their attention and a quick google will see that many are ending up in the media and there's probably many more we...
I’ve been scammed once myself and I had a week where every item over $500 got purchased by a scammer. I know the former as I lost almost a thousand bucks and I know the latter because TM told me. What did they all have in common? The purchases occurred or products were listed between 2am and 4am. They will know. The best improvement they can make to enhance revenue is to make the safe. Everything else is secondary. One only has to asks oneself, ‘why did I stopping using any website?’ There are two answers that come to mind: 1/ lack of confidence that I’m not being scammed and 2/ sick...
Lucy (TM rep), I don’t think this is good enough and it doesn’t answer our questions. We know scamming exists. We know there are measures to prevent it. We don’t know why those measures aren’t being taken. We do know TM keeps this quiet and we do know it needs 25 people full time to manage the damage. Can we have some answers please? At present, this looks like TradeMe have decided to not implement measures and are not notifying customers because a/ they don’t want to spend the money, b/ they don’t want to knock buyers confidence, and sadly c/ they profit through it if it drives more pe...
No, the seller was unaware of anything going on. Why? Because they were hacked and TradeMe don't have any option whereby someone can hack your account and you know about it. I blame ANZ for allowing obviously scamming account holders to get away with this unscathed. Their lack of response has been deafening. I blame the NZ Police not for being under-resourced but immediately abandoning this as it's a scam when most likely these people are scamming hundreds or thousands of NZers. But most of all I blame TradeMe for taking zero action to prevent this happening. Clearly these people are loggin...
To clarify: The account holder was hacked so you think you are buying from a legitimate seller not some new member ANZ operate 04 accounts that can be created by overseas account holders of the ANZs so moral of the story, do not ever pay into an 04 account. The 04 account holder of the ANZ in this instance was tracked to Australia and despite them supposedly going through all the ANZ checks the Police aren’t pursuing it, nor probably are the ANZ.
This is the response from the Police:I have wrote back to them saying this needs to be investigated to stop whoever has scammed multiple persons to date and will continue to scam multiple people in the future and obviously the ANZ have a lot to answer for here too: Dear Rob, Thank you for taking the time reporting this matter to Police. The Police are concerned about all crime and the effect it has on both you and the community. Police follow an integrated ten step case management process to record, gather evidence, assess, screen and link matters and make decisions on priorities incl...
