What is this about TradeMe prosecuting? That’s the literal ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. I’d like them to do something to prevent members getting battered in the first place. There’s a lot of silence from them on this.
Omg just saw Davidas comment, WTF TradeMe, this is BS! Why are you guys not acting on this? In fact I’ve just realised they could stop this in many other ways too as you could set a parameter on your account like ‘only list between 7am and 11pm’ or whatever as these accounts are all getting hacked in the early hours of the morning. And yes Lucy, going to the media might be the only thing the TM corporate machine might listen to if they won’t listen to us. To the CEO and managers of TradeMe, getting hacked or scammed is the same feeling as a burglary. You feel invaded and unsafe and your p...
They aren’t doing a thing. There are some incredibly simple steps they could take but by not taking them they can encourage people to use Ping and they profit by it. I’m still waiting for someone from TM to explain why that assertion is wrong. I really hope it isn’t but without someone explaining this inaction it’s a fair conclusion to draw. I still haven’t heard back from the Police, ANZ, BNZ or TM about any progress.
What happened? Did you get scammed?
I was the buyer in my instance when scammed. We can see when TradeMe implement security measures. Keeping something secret is only when you might be trying to catch someone after the fact. As for authentication, why are unauthenticated buyers allowed to buy? That might be a more legitimate question.
TradeMe don’t seem to have any of the security measures other security conscious sites have. There’s no fence at the top of the cliff. There is an ambulance for those who bought a Ping ticket before they leapt though.
Quiz question: How do promote the benefits of in-trade sellers without sending a negative message to the customer around dealing with a casual seller? And to Greg, is there only a service fee for casual sellers customers? I didn’t pick that but if that’s true then that’s going to be nuts. Tbh I think any additional charge to buyers is just a barrier to entry. The horse has bolted. I can’t think of anyone who knows about FB MP who would see any of these changes on TMs MP that would change their preferred platform.
Defies common sense. Go google ‘art glass’ which is defined as ‘high-quality, often handmade glassware created primarily for decorative or artistic purposes rather than strictly for utility.’ Firstly, there’s no preference for ART GLASS - the term - in the results. Second, no preference for the categories it is likely to appear in - Antiques or Pottery & Glass. Third, one seller, judging by them sticking their stock reference number in title, seems to have a disproportionately high listing of results high despite titles sometimes only having ART or GLASS in the title only. How the hell are ...
Michelle, this makes the disadvantage for professional sellers, ie. people who cary all the risk and have TM interests at heart, the only ones who pay the exorbitant fees now and thus less competitive. What business course was this approach learnt on because my degree is in business and this goes against everything we learnt and of course in practice is just totally demoralizing. For those who don't know, in-trade sellers must pay not only higher fees than casual (unprofessional and occasional) sellers but they pay it on the shipping fee as well plus enforced Ping fees. Just as an aside, I ...
