Just tested this on my private account, no mention of the actual service fee on my listing until you hit the highlighted "Service Fee?". Have withdrawn the listing and won't be listing any items in the two categories until after 22 Feb. Sneaky... buyers will not be aware of the fee until they either hit the button, like who does???, or get stung with it when paying by Ping. What is the service fee? To celebrate the release of our seventh Circular Economy Report, from 12-22 February, we are removing Success Fees for casual items in Home & Living and Clothing & Fashion. We are also exper...

IMO, Trade Me has gone way downhill and too greedy for fees. Sales are severely down on both my accounts, money is tight out there. As a buyer, I'll move on from a listing that has a "Service Fee" - interesting name, "Service" - love to know what service is being provided ... As a seller, if I happen to be one forced to have a "test experiment" loaded onto my listings, I won't be listing anything in the two categories out of protest. I feel there is enough revenue for TM without adding another fee - "no success fee" but are creaming it other ways. Rant over.

For Casual sellers listing in the Clothing and Home and Living categories.  "Circular Economy" another word for TM to suck fees? Who’s in the experiment The experiment includes all buyers making purchases via Ping in the Home & Living and Clothing & Fashion categories. The fee does not apply to listings from professional sellers. Ping on every listing As part of the free selling promotion, casual sellers must include Ping on their Home & Living and Clothing & Fashion listings. They can also add cash or Afterpay as other payment options. Bank transfers are not supported during the promotiona...

I'm getting the same Flossy selling over in the 8+ in age Lego. Perhaps TM need to overhaul the "Toy" categories as I also received an email re a 1000 piece preloved jigsaw. Have been selling for 15+ years and this is the first time I'm getting spammed with emails re safety. Must be Bots sending them out.

Harold, TM have also stuffed that up too i.e. insisting on Ping on trades to casual sellers during the free success fee period - I have both a business and casual account and have definitely been able to obtain payment via bank transfer during those so called "Ping" only trades with no success fee being taken so their system is flawed.

  • addibum commented,

I wonder to get around having no bank transfer from November, if we choose "cash" as an option, have a footnote re bank transfer, then correspond via email with purchaser?

  • addibum commented,

Frustrates the hell out of me too - I note so many traders especially in the Lego category who are certainly in-trade. One I saw did get the flag flying eventually and then I see the same seller, selling the exact items, wording etc, on their private account to take advantage of the free selling when it pops up monthly.  I'm frustrated that TM is taking the piss and creaming profit from charging success fees on postage, does not make it a level playing field.  TM, with all their "promises" of fixing this, doing that, implementing thin air, aren't doing diddly squat - gone so downhill its fa...

Just received an email re the removal of Bank Transfer from 3rd November as a payment option. TM had better educate the large amount of traders who don't like Ping as an option to buy - I personally love it for selling and buying.  Would love to hear your thoughts Edited to add Would be nice to actually have the "option" to have Ping rather than forced upon us.  Cheaper of the two evils i.e. AfterPay - who actually is going to pay cash???? Your current active listings will remain unchanged until they expire and are relisted after the date of change. Once they relist or are edited, Pin...

I've never been a fan of offering out FPO - I have been testing offering them the past few weeks however just to test the market - nada, not even a decline.  It appears I just have tyre kickers? How does everyone else find FPO?  Do they work for you?

It's a yeah nah for me - would love to know how to get rid of it appearing everywhere I click.  I've asked TM, they've no idea - yeah right, they are just pushing this too far now ... rrrrr rant over :)
