Unable to ask a question on a listing
AnsweredHi, I am looking at various listings and have been able to post questions on most but have come across a couple of listings where I get the message "You are unable to use this feature." when I try to ask a question. The two listings are for fairly big ticket items (boats) and are from two different dealers.
What gives?

Kia Ora Tony,
Sorry to read you've run into trouble there,
- Have you dealt with either of these Dealers previously?
- Have you had any angst from Dealers with like sites/Listings?
- What is the type/tone of the questions you've previously asked Dealers of like Listings?
- How's your feedback status/credit - social media appearance?
A message such as you have encountered could indicate you perhaps may have been blacklisted by the Dealer - No one but the Dealer themselves will be able to answer why they may have done this. It could also be a complete accident you were blacklisted - TradeMe don't ask for or require this information.
I would attempt to ask a question again tomorrow, just on the off chance there is trouble with the Dealers accounts today which may clear overnight - Cheers.

Going through the things you have raised:
- Have you dealt with either of these Dealers previously?
No - Have you had any angst from Dealers with like sites/Listings?
Never - What is the type/tone of the questions you've previously asked Dealers of like Listings?
I have only asked two questions on like listings and they have been respectful and asking for info not included in the listing but relevant to a buying decision - How's your feedback status/credit - social media appearance?
All very good - in fact I would definitely be in the target market for the boat dealers in question
I have a question for you:
Is it possible for a vendor to disable all questions on their listings?
I am asking this because NONE of the listings of the two boat dealers in question have any questions asked. If that is the case then it's a simple answer: Dealers have disabled all questions.0 - Have you dealt with either of these Dealers previously?

Kia Ora Tony,
I didn't expect answers, I was giving you a mental checklist to run through - Sorry if you read that incorrectly.
To answer your question - No! Sellers can't turn Q&A's off on their own Listings, Only Trademe staff can do this if there have been possible breaches, in which case you may be better off avoiding those Dealers Or as advised in my first Comment there may be something else affecting the Dealers accounts, TradeMe may even be waiting for some additional information from the Seller - You can contact TradeMe staff through "Live Chat" for assistance, for Privacy reasons they won't be able to confirm what the issue is However they may indicate if further information is expected perhaps. - All the Best.
